Christy Baize Cave

It's hard to believe that we are 80+ years old, isn't it?! Seems like yesterday that I was starting first grade (Sam Houston), then going on to Jr. High (Wynn Seale and Baker),and finally high school, W.B. Ray. Special memories of each of these school years (South Bluff Park, Cole Park, Padre Island, Clippers & Aces Baseball Games, accordion lessons, LaRetama Library on the Bluff, Girl Scouts, Y-Teens, Football Games, Slumber parties with girlfriends, dating Robert Harris, etc.) Robert and I were married from 1960 to 1977; Howard Cave and I have been married since 1981 (both husbands graduated from Ray in 1958). Watching our grandchildren grow up we have all relived those years. Two granddaughters, Brittany & Meredith Hilliard graduated from Ray. The others have graduated from schools in Coppell (Hilton & Ryan & Drew Hardie), Round Rock (Ellie & Abby Herring,& Mason), Canyon Lake (Ashlee & Kaitlyn Tibbs), and Houston Bellaire (Courtney & Megan Suchart). I graduated from A&I-CC in 1976 with a master's degree in Psychology and worked as a psychotherapist in clinics and hospitals for 30 years. Other special Life Gifts include two step-children and a meaningfully shared life with our Blended Family, inlaws and "exlaws." Brittany married Josh Sandbach in 2012; their son, Cooper William Sandbach was born July 1, 2016. Their second son, Brody Hayes Sandbach was born Jan. 2, 2019. Ashlee married Chase Spears in 2017; their daughter, Emersyn Jade Spears, was born Aug. 16, 2018; their second daugher, Cora Sage Spears was born on June 15, 2021. Kaitlyn married Chris Womble and their daughter, Adalynn Rose Womble, was born on September 1, 2020. Most people who knew me during my school years knew that I wanted to have a big family when "I grew up." I'm not sure that I have grown up yet, but I got my wish for a large family.

School was much more than lessons learned about math, history, and science; friendships and activities such as Student Council and Y-Teens were very meaningful!
