Comments:

My working career was as an Air Traffic Controller at Houston Air Traffic Control Center.

After retirement Ann ( a retired flight attendant from Continental Airlines) and I began cruising aboard MaƱana, our 36' trawler (motor boat). We traveled to the Chesapeake twice, the Bahamas once, and several times to Florida.

IN 1996 we moved up to a 42' trawler and continued cruising the Gulf and East Coast. Our travels took us up into the river system that included places like Chattanooga and Nashville. We also traveled the "Great Loop" which traverses the Hudson River, The Erie Canal, the Trent/Severn Waterway that crosses Ontario, the Great Lakes, the Illinois River back to the Mississippi and down to the Gulf of Mexico.

While traveling and living aboard our boat we branched out into Yacht Deliveries and boating instruction.

Our numerous deliveries included two separate trips through the Panama Canal, two trips through the inside passage from Washington to Alaska, and several delivery/instruction cruises.

As of October 2008 Ann and I had returned to Clear Lake (Houston area) from Anacortes, Washington where we spent the summer working for ABC Yacht Charters as charter boat skippers.

In 2002 we sold our boat and moved onto our 'geriatric' yacht, a motor home, and continued our nomadic lifestyle, spending winters in Rockport and summers anyplace where we didn't need air conditioning. Our travels have taken us to all 50 states (we didn't take the motor home to Hawaii), 8 Canadian provinces and territories, and 5 Mexican states.

Update as of August 2010: Our traveling days were put on temporary hold when Ann assumed care taking duties for her aging mom. We bought a condo on Clear Lake, and for the foreseeable future we'll remain in this area.

Ann's mom passed in 2012 but by then we'd put down roots in this area and were satisfied to stay. We downsized to a much smaller class C motor home and continue to take monthly weekend trips.

Thomas (Tom) Caywood has left an In Memory comment for Coke Wilson.

I first met Coke when we were in the Ray High School Band our sophomore year.  Coke was a talented musician, I was not.  I was in the band only because my mother was determined that I develop some culture and I'm living proof that a mother's determination is not always enough.  In spite of the differences in our musical talent Coke took me under his wing and acted as a mentor to me, a gesture I will always appreciate.

After high school graduation Coke and I went our separate ways and we only saw each other at the reunions. Then, in 2003 my wife and I began spending winters in Rockport.  While there I made the effort to reestablish some old Corpus connections, Coke being one of them.

Coke graciously included me in his periodic meetings with his lunch bunch.  So for 5 winters, until we moved back to the Houston area in 2008, I saw Coke on average of once a month and our frindship was renewed.  During that time I purchased a new computer and Coke generously gave of his time and talent to help me get the new computer up and running.  I think that sort of generosity is typical of the way Coke treated everyone.

I miss living in the Coastal Bend and I miss Coke.
