Charles 'Jerry' White, 75, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016, at his residence. He was born in Kingsville, Texas, a son of the late Grady Clifton and Ernest Blanche Johnson White.
Jerry served in the US Army for 21 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He continued to serve his country for 21 more years in Civil Service, on matters of National Security.
In retirement, he served his community as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem, advocating for the rights of at-risk children. Jerry also served as a Red Cross Emergency Response team member during many national disasters.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Yvonne Brown White, three sons: Charles Clifton (and Laura) White of Killeen, Texas, Robert Havron (and Kristina) White of Blythewood, South Carolina, and Christopher Shane (and Susanna) White; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, October 22, 2016, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at his home in Florence.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Jerry. He wanted me to stop when my husband and I traveled from to NY to Florida, but sadly that never happened. He had a wonderful life, thoughts and prayers to all his family.

Some of you guys may remember our Sam Houston Elementary days when we would get to school early and play "run until you are tackled" football on the side of the school toward Norton Street. I am another person that knew Jerry from Sam Houston thru Ray, and am sorry to hear that he has passed away. He gave back to his country and his community, and made this world a better place for all of us. I know he will be missed by all who knew him, especially his family. My sympathies are with them.
