Let's see, after graduation I trained to be a Kindermusik teacher and that was my job during the year I spent at Wesleyan. At the end of that year I began dating Josh, a guy I had actually known since 7th grade through youth group activities at my church. We got married the following summer and just celebrated our eighth anniversary. Since I had always wanted to be a stay-at-home mom I decided not to return to Wesleyan and rack up a huge debt on a degree I didn't plan on using. I was a toddler teacher in a daycare until Marissa joined our family and I have been home with the kids ever since. Life has been filled with several moves, reading of the same book over and over, grocery shopping with two carts and massive amounts of laundry but I love it. ;o) In March of 2006 an MRI revealed a brain tumor growing in the bundle of nerves that leads from my right ear to my brain. Praise God it was non-cancerous. My husband and I flew to Los Angeles for a six-hour surgery where they removed all of it, however I lost the hearing in that ear. But life goes on and I am continually thankful for how simple this whole situation turned out to be.
I still enjoy much of the same stuff I did in high school, still love to read, I run every now and then, and play the timpani in my church's orchestra. Lately I've gotten obsessed with sewing and have outfitted my girls with a gazillion skirts. I'm way behind on all the kids' scrapbooks. But I am truly loving this busy phase of life and am constantly aware of how fast time flies.
