Hi Debbie,,, I agree, I don't care about the gay thing,,, except that maybe they shouldn't have been around us nubile young girls! They were indeed strange.

Kathy Riehl (Regnier)

No - I don't think how people choose to love eachother is really any of my business - but back in the '60's things were very, very different.

Linda Benson (Good)

Did we even actually know that they were gay? Kathy you were right when you said BACK THEN...those things were never discussed, nor were or should I say was I even aware that it was going on although they made it quite obvious. Perhaps it was my sheltered way of life that kept me from seeing what was right in front of me. I agree with all of you however, that the way one chooses to live their lives is their decision. I have some friends who are openly gay and they are some of the nicest people I know.

I have contacted Mr. Cedar and invited him to the reunion and asked him to do a guest profile.
PS: Ladies, my gosh, had I known about your concerns, I would have volunteered to hand out the towels in PE. All you had to do was ask.

Hi... I don't remember Mr. Cedar.... what did he teach? Have any other teachers been invited? Wasn't Miss Pavler our class advisor?? What about Mr. Quick,,, he was very hip. But please, let's not invite the gym teachers... lol

Hey Tom, I think we would of had a long line for that job.

Linda,

Mr. Cedar was not a teacher, but rather a student, otherwise know as Bruce. He attended Central Junior High, and then his family moved out of the area. He was a very talented actor in junior high, and an accomplished singer. His father became a minister at some point, and I believe that was why his family moved.

You " boys " are very silly! So, how was gym for you guys? Any shower issues on your side??

I'm sure many of you remember Bruce Cedar. Yes, his dad was a minister at the First Congregational Church next to the Catholic Church and St. Thomas school near Virginia Street; I'm straining my memory here for the exact locations. Bruce and I were in the same 8th grade confirmation class where our enlightened mentors allowed us to expand our minds and read Playboy magazines and smoke cigars. I still have fond memories of confirmation class even though I still don't know what the word means. Bruce then went to Holland as an exchange student for a year, so he lost a year and fell back into the class of 1970 with my (future) wife Joan. I'm still concerned about how much our first born looks like Bruce. Anyway, Bruce graduated from CLCHS in 1970 and then went to the U of I in Champaign with a bunch of us. I hope he can make it to the reunion, he's a lotta fun.

I now remember Mr. "Bruce" Cedar. He was a good guy and yes a good actor. He had the lead role in one of our plays, I was doing the backstage lighting, sound etc. with Bob Littler and stanley Felts, and was the understudy to Bruce. He was sick as a dog for the dress rehearsel for the student body and I took his part. He dragged his sorry ass to the stage for the nightime perfomance and did a great job. wtg, b

Linda, we were able to get our own towels, but when you walked in front of those guys, they made you feel like tommy turtle. although I don't think either of them could look down and see their shoes.

Being "a good Catholic boy" I could never quite understand how Bruce's father had a Playboy club membership that allowed us to take our dates up to Lake Geneva to enjoy the club up there! I definitely thought that I was in the wrong church!

With all the dramatics I was involved with Charlie, I don't remember you as having been one behind the stage! The thinge we learn about each other 40 years later huh?

Hey Tom! Thanks for thinking of Bruce. He is a really good guy.

I was in the Congregational church too. We were in the same confirmation class. Those Saturday's were long with Mr. and Mrs. Dahlrimple?sp.

As far as the shower business, I just remember we a lot of towel snapping going!

Hey Linda,

I think I have a photo of that confirmation class. There are quite a few of us in there!! I will try to get it posted. Or bring to the reunion.

Hi... One of our classmates mentioned in her profile something about our class predictions.... she apparently remembered hers. Does anyone have a copy of those? Were they given Senior Dinner night?

06/25/09 12:59 PM #89

Susie Wallens (Covey)

Yes, Miss Pavler was our class sponsor and we did invite her to the Reunion. However, I spoke with her and she will be unable to attend.
I did give her the website and welcomed her to join on.

Anybody up for one more memory....at least it is for me...
I remember all the boys wearing Canoe or British Sterling back then and the girls wore Heaven Scent and
Chantilly.
Any more that I've forgotten??
My first bottle of perfume was Heaven Scent. What about the rest of you ladies??

Vivian McCarthy (Tipler)

How about Ambush and Tabu. It wouldn't even come out in the laundry.

06/25/09 06:21 PM #92

Susie Wallens (Covey)

OMG...Ambush & Tabu...wore both of them as well.
I think we did all our shopping for our perfumes
at Walgreens or Osco....

06/25/09 11:11 PM #94

Mine was that I would "don" a housewife role....
