School Story

I remember myself as very shy. Now I find that odd as I don't feel that way at all today and have not felt that way since high school. I remember some of my very best friends as they are still my BFFs today - Betsy Mathis Porter, Shirley Zell Kaye (I have known since age 8) and Becky Boyd Smith, most of us having lived in AZ since the 70's.
I dated Terry Simmons, Class of '65, during Freshman and Sophomore high school years, then re-met him in CA in 1988 and married him in 1989 in AZ. 10 interesting years of marriage. Divorced in 1999 and then sadly he died of lung disease in 2013 in AZ.
I worked with Lenny Winkle at A&W and we had a blast, became good friends and went to Sr Prom together.

My children were born of my first marriage to Glen Zorn from Glenview, IL whom I met at Western Illinois University in Macomb. I met Glen through Dave Saban who was also at WIU. Dave and I remain friends today.

It took me a while and a sabbatical from college, a fun working year at Northern Illinois Gas at the switchboard, and a semester of school at College of the Virgin Islands on St. Thomas, to get my Business degree in Accounting at WIU in December 1972. I then moved to AZ with Glen in early 1973.

My third, last and best marriage is to Gregg Schindel from Iowa whom I met at work in AZ as financial advisors with the firm that is now Ameriprise Financial. Life is good. We love to travel and do a lot of that. We both retired in 2008. We see a lot of my CLCHS BFF's - Betsy, Shirley and Becky even though we all four live in towns about 100 miles apart. I know there are other Class of '67 classmates out here in AZ. We need to connect!

We knew Steve as Steve Kwidzinski in high school.

He attended our 50th reunion with his later name Steve Mlynarek.

Horst was wonderful at the 50th Reunion, checking with the committee to make sure we'd had enough attendees to cover the costs, offering to help with expenses if it was needed. Such a gentleman. We were privileged to know him and get to see him at the 50th Reunion.
