School Story
I remember the Senior Prom........Well, actually, I don't....... I didn't date until after High School, (in fact, until I was in the Air Force) and they wouldn't sell me just one ticket. They WOULD sell me two, but I didn't have a name to give them for who I was bringing, so.....They wouldn't sell me two.
Well, screw them, then.
Guess I could have brought my sister.......NAH!
Didn't really care to go, THAT much.
The class I hated the most in GB Dealey was PE on the days when they did the dance classes. I would sit on the bench and HOPE that no girl came across the floor for me.
The music was pretty good, though. I remember TEEN ANGEL and ONE EYED ONE HORNED FLYING PURPLE PEOPLE EATER.
At Dealey, one year, there was some kind of carnival, and someone's mother had volunteered to wear the "Mystery Shirt, a white shirt with pockets all over. Beautiful blond who looked like a Breck Girl. For (I think it was a quarter) kids could reach into one of the pockets, and pull out a piece of candy. The breast pockets seemed to be most popular among the boys.
My favorite PE classes, I guess this was at Franklin, were volley ball days. I remember when four of us and the coach beat eight on the other side. I've always though, since, that five was the best team size.
I don't know if anyone else remember this, but on the last day of our senior year, before the teacher came into the room, a couple of us took the two chairs down the hall and hid them. She came into the classroom and said "Wheah's mah chauh?'.
I remember the time someone (I can see him, but I can't remember his name) brought a minibike in through one of the doors at the shop end of the school, and ripped down the hall, around past the office, and out the door he came in. He apparently though he would pass each classroom door, and be gone before a teacher could catch him. Didn't take into account that sound travels forward, as well.
I think this is the same guy who drove a rail dragster past the Texaco where I was working, later, well, not too far past, a cop pulled him and another kid in another rail over right out in front of the Texaco.
Maybe these stir some memories for some of you.
