Left SC for the west coast in 93. Ran whitewater on the Snake, Salmon, N. American, and Klamath rivers among others.
In Sept. 96 I completed my first open water swim in the annual South End Rowing Club Alcatraz swim across San Francisco Bay. It was f** cold, but I plan to do it again.
Returned to GA spring of 97 and settled into Atlanta. Made a career in HR for a private design firm until 2001.
Moved to coastal GA to pursue boats and the saltwater life. Got hired on Savannah-based tug oufit and for the next 4 years sailed from Bath, ME to Galeveston Bay and all ports in between. By the end I had earned my 100 ton Master Captain's license.
Put on land by ripping my big toe off on a mooring cleat. (doc sewed her back on). Still in Sav, I started working in construction industry; and twice took part in volunteer effort to clean up Katrina damage in MS and LA.
In 2007 I was recommended to Savannah River Pilots and have been in the pilot dispatch office since 2008.
Spend my free time inshore/offshore fishing and doing work on my house and yard.
Also, I'm getting married to a wonderful Savannah gal this year.
