You know, they don't even let one holiday end before they move on to the next! But must say...after bitching about the neighbor around the block having his Xmas lights up already (for a week now)...I thought...hey maybe I'll do that this week why it is warm! Who am I kidding...I'll have my hubby do it...I'm not getting on the roof!

Tracy, how long you been back in MI?

Some times it feels like I never left....
The boys and I came back home in Dec 2005. Bill went on to live in Munich Germany. We were asked to relocate after six monthes in Shanghai to Munich but as we were supposed to be in China for two years and the company decided not to keep us there....ugh I didn't want to take a chance on relocating the boys to yet another foreign country and be put in yet another school, etc. only to have the company tells us that Munich was over and send us somewhere else. Bill traveled back and forth for three or four weeks in Munich and three or four weeks back in Detroit for about a year. Then the development went into production so it moved from germany to spartenberg S.C. so he got to travel back and forth from there.

The boys and I spent the summer of '06 in Germany. We went to Legoland. Very cool. We also went back to England to see the friends we had made while living there. Also went to Edinborough Scotland. I miss England. Munich is an amazing city too. The alps are within driving distance so we went hiking often. Also took a day trip to Salzburg Austria. They were celebrating Mozarts' birthday.

Lots of travel, it's like a catch 22...You kids would get a lot of culture, but fear of not having something stable is scary too. But honestly don't we always have a fear of not doing right by our children. One could say that living in the same community for entire school years can do just as much damage & uprooting them. Wow, I'm starting to psycho-analysis everything again.

When we moved to England in 2000, the kids were 3 and 4 years old. When they are young they don't care where they are just as long as mom and dad are there too. Now that they are older, they would not appreciate being uprooted. When we moved home from China, we had just been on vacation to Japan, Australia, and New Zealand and Thomas told us he didn't want to go on vacation for a really long time. Funny thing is, they would get more out of the cultural experience now that they are old enough to remember and appreciate it. I think it would be good for them as teens.

But honestly...I had the oportunity to move to Florida a million times over. I just could not see dealing w/the southern politics, as a social worker, & mother...did not want to deal w/that...Love the warm weather, but not my cup of tea. I could of moved to Lakeland, the Keys, or Fort Lauderdale...none offered what Michigan offered.

I've been very fortunate to have seen as much as I have. I love change and to see how others live. I love history too so that makes anywhere outside the U.S. a treat. The only down side is having your spouse away so much. Fortunatly I am very independent so I managed well. Don't need a man to fix my backed up sink etc.

Yes they could get much more from it as teens, but as teens go...they'll want even more so to have that forever connection w/their peers. I hated my mom for getting back together w/my dad & taking me to Florida. We weren't gone long before she realized why they separated & we came back. But those 3 months out of my small world of DH...hurt. I became evil to my parents for it for a minute.

We had a chance to move to Taylor, Michigan a few years ago, but didn't want to be too far from family. Although, we would have been really close to Omar's.

Is Clara from PA?

I remember those paper things. I like to answer to them but never knew how to make them. Origami.

Today at lunch my husband said to me "If you don't have opposable thumbs you're just a sloth!"

We were discussing my painful thumbs. I overworked them in class Thur.
