Yea, those houses will be sitting a long long time! If I had $800,000 to spend on a house it would not be in Riverview. Once again, no disrespect to Rverview, but for that kind of money I would want all the houses in the entire city to be $800,000 homes. Of course, the deals that seem to good to be true usually are. I would love to have an inground pool, if the kids were a little older and understood, it would be different. What kind of security like covers do they make for those?
April, I was on Realtor.com until 3:00 a.m. this morning, I am so stressed that I have been having trouble sleeping so I sit online until I can't keep my eyes open any longer.

We have an automatic cover. Every time we get out of the pool, we just push a button and the cover closes over the pool in 30 seconds. I actually tested it and walked across to make sure it would hold me up, and it did. There is a key to operate it. If we go away for the day, I don't have to worry about someone drowning in our pool, it is great.

I just read there is only 44 days until Christmas! Can that be possible?

Crap Tracey, why did you mention that...LOL

Sorry, someone had to say it.

As always I am late... Tracey here people put mules out to kill the coyotes before they kill the live stock. A good mule will kick the sh*t out of a coyote.

Houses--I can not believe what y'all pay in taxes etc up there. Our property taxes are about $150 a year. Next good hurricane to hit the panhandle of Florida I think we will list it just to see if it will sell. After Ivan prices doubled.

O.K. here goes: Skateland in Westland and the midnight Thriller song.

Sobering up at the Long Dollar (I think that was the name of it) on Van Born before going home

How many people have put a foot on the floor to stop the bed from spinning????

Lying about where you were staying the night so you could walk the roads all night...

Last but, not least, walking on Ecorse creek when it was frozen in the winter.

Getting home in the morning as your Dad was leaving for work.....

Yes about the foot on the floor thing...

Yes to the walking on the creek thing, Matt Turczyn and I did that a few times.... On the way to 7-11 on van born at 3am!

Hello all...

Cara Onkalo (Fitzpatrick)

I was also at Skateland West for many a midnight Thriller, and at Long Dollar. Gwen, we could have been there at the same time...

Don't want to remember the spins!

Drove up and down Telegraph all night long on countless nights after going to the $1 show at the FordTel and kept a robe and slippers hidden in the garage in case I was spotted coming in. Never got caught!

Nothing could beat 3am slurpees and whoppers. We would park in the Madison school parking lot and eat them.

Welcome Matt!

Long Dollar was where I got my high school education after I dropped out over & over all 3 years. I SO MISS THE DOLLAR =(

Never had to lie...I always told the truth...got lectured not grounded...spend a many of nights wondering the DH streets...use to use Kathrine alot...it was nice & dark, but that was for car sex.

Tracey...Christmas is about the decorating of one's home in honor of the birth of Jesus...not gifts...at least not this year, damn economy! Know one needs to break themselves this year...recovery is much harder in these times...so good luck trying to convince the children it's about the celebration not the gifts...ROFL I know my kids will be getting a rude awakening.

I've been working. Have a client with a knee problem.

Christmas as a kid was the best. The best because my mom was really big into decorating the house. Sometimes we had two trees, one in the front living room and one in the back family room. We used to decorate and bake cookies and Tricia and I used to get the Christmas piano songbook and sit in the bathroom beside the heating vent and sing every song in the book. We had Ulrich's over to our house every Christmas Eve. Aunts, uncles, cousins. We would cook these huge meals. Then we would go to my mom's family's house on Christmas day and do it all over again. The gifts of course were great, but for me Christmas is all about the celebrating with family.

As a kid I thought the time between summer and Christmas was forever. Now as an adult, I can't believe how quickly the time is going by. My comment on how many days until xmas was more a reflection on the time passing then what I am going to buy for the kids. Every year I tell my husband we should just give/receive one gift and make it really special. Not necessarily expensive, but special. Well thought out. I get over-ruled. The rub is that he never likes or keeps what I give him or else he finds out ahead of time what I am planning to give him and that spoils it so I don't end up getting it. He is the worst person to buy for.

Christmas use to be like that for me as a kid, then my lame a** sisters screwed it all up. Now I have only my kids & my hubby's family! More then anything, my biggest wish is that all my kids stay close & sane for each other!

Ok new question....Turkey or Ham for the Holidays?
Also lets share favorite deserts...it's that time of the year when we all pack on the pounds...now give some ideas.

Me...Ham & cheesecake

The boy's school adopts area families in need every year. The boys are in their 5th and 7th year at this school so giving has become a real important aspect for them. They happily participate and Thomas even suggested he would like to start a food drive this year. I suggested he look into helping out with the program already in place. We will see. The economy is very tough this year and more and more people will be in need. It just breaks my heart to think of a family going without. Last year we bought a young girl a pair of ice skates and her brother a new basketball. They both needed a winter coat and hat/mittens. The mom didn't want anything for herself but we (the kid's class) bought her a spa package and some new clothes.
When the boys were little and outgrew their toys we donated them to a lady in Fenton who runs a program to deliver toys to kids in need.

Ham for us. My favorite dessert is probably red, green and white jello. I know, I know jello! But I've had it since the beginning of my time so it just doesn't feel right not to have it.
Also, my aunt Nell's cut-out sugar cookies. I don't know what she puts in them but they are delicious and she makes them gigantic!

Tracey, that is such an awesome picture. We had the exact same orange shag and paneling! At least it was cushy playing on the floor!

Ham, definitely, and pumpkin pie with maple syrup in it - so yummy!

My husband hates this time of year. It looks like it puked Christmas at our house. Lights on the house, lights in the windows, 2 trees. I have a Santa room and a Snowman room. My kids love it. We take down all the painting and wrap them like christmas packages... It takes me 4 days to convert the house. YES Virginia, there really is a Santa Claus!!!! Screw the economy, there is going to be at one credit card company that my family alone will save from complete failure...LOL

11/12/08 04:37 PM #841

Cara Onkalo (Fitzpatrick)

All right Shannon!! I'm with you - to hell with the economy!! You have to post pictures of your house!

April Passen (Ochman)

Tracey...cool picture! My daughter, not the boys yet has helped out w/collecting for toys for tots threw school, donated time to help feed the homeless, & gifts for the mentally impaired since I worked for them, & before that for the kids when I did child foster care.

Shannon good for you...feed that card & the companies.

Me will see, just made a deal for re-modification on my home loan brought the interest rate down from 9 to 5.75...Woohoo. Will see...I might be able to afford a little something this year. As long as gas prices stay down...seen for $1.89...feels like a gift to me!

11/12/08 05:26 PM #843

Shannon Krych (Hofer)

gas here is 2.19 but I have to pay 2.45 because my car takes the expensive crap...

April good for you on the interest rate... If anyone has anything over 7%, you need to refi...

11/12/08 05:33 PM #844

April Passen (Ochman)

If not in a place to refi...w/new changes the current mortgage company has the opportunity to modify your current mortgage which does not need a good credit rating! So make those calls to those who need it. Such as myself so did! With so many passing of family members in the last 3 years that required major travel & burial, my credit is shot! But w/new mortgage deal I'm half way to repairing it!

I need a beer now!
