April Passen (Ochman)

Dan do you get home sick for new home or old home? I was that kid that everyone could stay at my house, but I wasn't staying anywhere but home. I think I out grew that, but I do miss sleeping under my mom's roof even after she moved to Florida...something about being in same place as her always made me feel safe. Ok enough of the sappy ass shit!

Where the hell has everyone been? Holidays coming & reality kicks in & message forum first to get booted. I have been just as guilty in lack of my "normal" posts. But I hear by promise to at least post 1 a week, but aiming for once a day when I can.

Dan do you know if you & Robert are going to be in town around the same time? If so we all who can get together should for at least some EGG nog...lol That would of been more funny if I acutually would drink the stuff.

Robert! Robert! Robert!!!
I don't know when he was planning to go. You hear as much as I do from him. I would like to throw the idea around that some of us could hang for an evening of "Holiday Cheer" and to talk about the good old days.

I miss my parents and this has been a tough year for the Wallace family. My Grandpa is 91 and I want to see him more than 2 times a year. Kate is my parents only grandchild and I feel bad that they miss out on so much. I miss hanging with Romas (Uncle Chris) and my brothers, we laugh until we have tears in our eyes!

Dan...Long distance grandparenting is hard, just be sure to talk about often about your parents & make those phone calls. Make them apart of special everything!

I so miss having grandparents for my kids! My parents when they were alive they lived in Florida & I so miss having them to call about the stupid stuff...like that my son's favorite sorry saying is "oh my bad". Only a grandparent cares about the little thing like we do. Now to be fare my kids do still have my step dad, my hubby's mom, & his step dad...but they ain't MY PARENTS!

And in regards to a Holiday gathering...I"m so up for it if I'm invited! Only day I can honestly not do a get together is Janurary 4th, other then the actually holidays themselves...cuz thats my baby girls 11th birthday.

Instead of egg nog we can have egg lob!

Tina Turner! OMG what can I say? Tons! She is incredible, puts on an incredible show and boy can that lady move!!! 50 years she has been performing on stage and those famous legs looked so incredible! She did not move like the average 70 year old woman...well because she is NOT the average 70 year old woman. Phenomenal show. We were in the 4th row from the stage and I never stopped moving! She sang River Deep and Proud Mary and I feel like I've witnessed a part of history. It was incredible.

O.K. April...I can throw a baseball to Florid and I am freezing my a** off!!!!! I keep nudging the heat up 2 degrees at a time and it is no good. I HATE BEING FRICKIN COLD!!!!!!

So, on a nicer note. Tracey How were the girls doing?

April, I am sorry about Cindy being evil?? One day you will have to spill. She is the one who taught me how to light a cigarette in 7th grade. Yeah I am a sheltered child.

Life is boring here in Lower Alabama. The time between football and baseball always is.

Things I remember from my childhood:
1. The secret path from Detroit Street to 7-11.
2. The breakfast of champions a slurpee and a Newport.
3. Dead man's bridge--It was off Hanover and Raymond--an old old road that was closed.
4. The annual Halloween parade around Bedford School.
5. Oh!!! losing my shoes outside the gym/lunchroom at Bedford in the second grade in 3 feet of snow and getting frost bite.
6. Jordache jeans
7. Gibralter Trade Center
8. Playing football in the street with Jason Bracey, Jimmy Bracey, Mark McCall and my brothers---These same people also kidnapped our baby dolls and held them for ransom.
9. Lets see ohhh being a safety.
10. Helen Mitiffs furry friends (they always had exotic pets)

O.K. those are the 10 things that come to mid right now

Wow--Check in after a busy day of shopping and then we went to a college football game and no one has posted a thing.

I was thinking the same thing Gwen. I guess we will need to spice things up a bit. lol

Talking point - Assuming its ok for a 38 yr old man to date a 25 yr old woman, is it then ok for a 38 yr old woman to date a 25 yr old man? Or is neither one "ok"?

Share your thoughts on this hot topic...

I say if the 38 woman can attract a 25 yr old man she should go for it!

Long time, no chat. It's been busy.

Check out Queen w/ Paul Rodgers (live) on I-Tunes. The old Bad Company songs kick ass! I won't be in Michigan for Christmas. We'll be asking my parents to come out to Pennsylvania.

Here's a good story. I was riding my bike home from a float meeting, when I practically went into a sewer. Later, we found out that James 'Hitler' Cherry had been removing the man hole covers. Why? And, why was he nicknamed Hitler? My front tire and rim were fu##ed up as a result.

I never liked any area east of Pelham and south of Annapolis. There seemed to be a lot more hippies in those parts.

If you're going to create a 'profile', explain what you're up to or throw a picture on the website. Otherwise, what's the point.

I'm sure this will piss some people off. Sorry.

Hey Robert I agree with you. May I make a suggestion? Can the Home page be updated maybe to say something along the lines of "Be sure to check out the message forum for a lively discussion of various topics..." "and also, please be sure to tell us a little about yourself in your profile - go on, don't be shy" lol

Wallace: Check this out...

Do you remember talking to the bass player at the bar in Toledo? Wasn't his name Jag?

11/23/08 09:37 PM #985

Gwen Norman (Martin)

Ohhh!! Hooker--I remember getting in trouble for beating Hitler up (that's when my mom said I couldn't hit boys unless they hit me first). I never thought of myself as a hippie...Maybe a tomboy...I really don't think he (Jamie) had that great of a home life. I think it goes to the discussion my husband and I have about kids here. They aspire to be better than their parents..When they grow up they want a double wide trailer. I on the other hand had 2 older brothers---learning to fight was a matter of survival and thanks to those 2 darling boys my parents were very strict on me and I learned how to be sneaky.

I don't know how Hitler got his nickname but, I remember in 4th grade he had it.

Debbie,

If you can bag a younger man go for it---Just leave my son alone :-) he is just a baby. LOL

Debbie Goike (Laidler)

LOL Gwen, I never said it was me. The topic had come up recently at work and I was trying to think of myself in that situation. When the forum got quiet I thought I would try to stir up a little chatter thats all. But if I find a 25 year old worthy of my attention I will let you all know. hehe

April Passen (Ochman)

Ok it's been awhile where to start... About the age difference Debbie...age differences are fine as long as everyone is over the age of 25. Me personally...if anything were to happen to my marriage...I would be going for an older man, I've got my own kids to raise, & already did the game playing...but now that's me as a happily married women, let me get scolled & I might be willing to chase some young tail...lol

Robert your theory is somewhat right about the hippie majority...but I'd say the creek is what actually attracted most of us trouble makers. If you lived near, or hung out by the creek post 13 you might have been a hippie. Even though I lived 5 houses from Little Ceasers. And so sorry to hear you won't be making it for the holidays, but actually w/you just moving it will be nicer to have family there.

Gwen, One day soon I'll have to give you the low down on my misfortunes w/Ms. Cindy Hurst in a private message. Don't feel like spreading the negativity right now. Also I have some old scoop on the Bracey brothers for ya...Jason aka Buck...still hangs locally he works for the railroad I do believe. Last time I seen him he looked like he had just walked off the cover of a ZZTop record. His brother on the other hand, now this is all according to Jason...moved to Utah & is a satanist, I guess Utah has a big population of satanist if your not a poligimist?

Dan, Tracey, Shannon & Shawn...Hope you had a good weekend...& Tracey I hope your euphoria of Tina is still linering.

Hello, Hello

I heard there was a lot of activity going on here so I thought I would join in. Hope everyone is doing fine. SOrry I missed the reunion.

Take Care
Stan

Tracey Ulrich (Dawson)

Hi Stan! Welcome

April, I agree with you. I have always been attracted to older men mostly because I don't care for the game playing nonsense. I would look for a man who is all grown up, knows what he wants, and who knows himself so he is not intimidated by a strong minded and bodied woman like myself. I am channeling my inner Tina!

As for the age thing, I don't see a problem with a younger man. My sister is married to a younger man and they are very happy together. Of course he is a former Marine and has an amazing body, but I'm sure they have more than THAT in common.

Can't seem to stop singing "Simply the Best"

Thanks April- I had a great weekend.

We adopted a yellow lab named Sam. He is 18 months old and is just wonderful. He is from a shelter and was abused but is such a loving pup. I have this great book called Second-Hand Dogs. You have to train shelter dogs a little different that raising them from a pup. How anyone could do to some of these pets what they do is beyond me.

If I don't get back on here, I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and I can't wait for any FANTASTIC family gathering stories ...

April,

Jason lives in his moms old house down the street from my parents. Last time I heard anything about Jimmy he had just been in an accident. That was Christmas of 1997 I think. Last time I saw Jason was 2003?? 0r '04. We've been there since it is just so hectic because the kids have done everything there is to do in Detroit and we only stay a few days at a time. When it is cold I have about a 3 minute tolerance; in the summer it takes about 3 days before someone pisses me off and I want to come home where people say ma'am and sir. Mom and Dad will not fly down here and Dad is too old to drive (just don't tell him that). Well I have to go get ready for the City Council meeting.
