Tara Wismar (Nickell)

April,
We had the neighbors from hell. About 4 years after we bought our house, the old man that lived next door, died. We talked about buying it, when it went up for sale but my husband said "it would probably suck to own the house next door to you" well the house sat for a few months then people started coming in and "fixing" it He was actually the only one we liked. To make a long (very long) story short, and a paint job on my brand new Grand Prix, that we ended up paying for, the special child took a rock and scratched the entire car, the younger brother told his dad that the boy did it but their mom did not belive him so they decided they did nt need to pay! They used to leave the special child home alone locked in his room, until I called the police and they went in and let him out of his room. They sold pot, they smoked pot and we could smell it in our house all the time, daily, more than twice a day. You want to smoke it, fine, but I have the right not to smell it in my home. There were guns being sold, etc... We got to the point of the mom coming to my house because I finally was sick of her leaving her kids with ther older brother, who at 14 was too busy making a baby with his girlfriend in his room, while his brother ran up and down the street naked playing with himself and just flat out not being not cared for. I told the woman to get off my porch and she would not so I helped her out and dared her to step on my property again. This went on for 7 years! My husbands sister had just bought the house next to their lake house and she told me to do the same that she did, write the landlord. So I did, I wrote them (in Kentucky) and all I said was that is they were to ever the home we would like to buy it. I had sent that letter about 4 years after they bought the home and 3 years later, they called and asked us if we were still interested. It was bad timing as about two weeks prior our little baby had passed away. My husband said he did not care and to just let them sell it. I told him no way. We ended up buying it and the people knew they were selling it but did not know who was buying it. The owners called the people and said the buyer was coming with the inspector. Then when my husband knocked on the door, she answered and said "What the hell do you want" John said I am here with my home inspector and if all goes as planned you will have 30 days to get out after closing. I wish I could have seen the look on her face! They left and did not dare trash the place because the security deposit was still in place from their lease! I loved it as I watched them drive away to be Georgia's next welfare case! We did so much work over there and as soon as we find the home we want we will rent out both of these houses! The house next door is empty. We like not having a neighbor there!

Hey...Just thinking about something...If you could all add one song to the class of 88 soundtrack, what would it be? Try to think of something that when you hear it always takes you back in time. Mine would be "Welcome to the Jungle"...lol. I remember it blaring in Gena's car while cruising the Ave.

Michele- My would be "It's the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine) by R.E.M.

Sorry to say that "Rebel Yell" by Billy Idol is the first song to come into my mind. YIKES

Good choices so far...I have to admit that the REM song always calls to mind the "Tommy Boy" scene. Probably because that's what I sound like when trying to sing along...lol.

"Here I go again" by Whitesnake...the Here I go again down this lonely road...just reminds me of the Ave. Or "Take me down slow & easy" reminds me of the carnivals! But "Crazy Train" by Ozzy explains it all...LOL

Michele, very good question. And your song makes me think of the lunchroom...our behaviors of course at O. W. Best, dealing with Porcha.

Ok I need opinions. My daughter's 11 bday is Jan. 4th. I was thinking about getting her a puppy for her birthday. So am I the best mom ever or the most irresponsible parent ever? I'll give ya the facts...I live in a city that only allows 2 dogs, I already have 2 dogs. One is just over age one, & the other is going on 16. My 16 year old is a Chow, she is blind, my sweetness, but her time is a coming. I figured if I get the pup that it will give the bigger pup something to do, so she quits trying to play w/my old girl. But I will be once again breaking the city rules.

We had wacky neighbors for awhile. The lady was an elementary school teacher who used to come out on her porch wearing only a towel around her head. When I first saw this I couldn't believe it. Out of curiosity I would look across the street from my kitchen and she would stand naked in her doorway. We found out later they were listening in on everyones phone calls with a scanner. Then they would confront people about private conversations they had. When people figured it out they moved without telling anyone, they were just gone one day.

Oh yeah, sorry I almost forgot, she was in her late forties and gravity had claimed another victim. So I guess that covers it. When I was 14 I prayed to see a naked lady, after that one, I pray for the memory of her to go away.

Ok Dan. My last residence before my present one. I had some poor white inherit their home from an aunt.

It was an old man, his wife & their obese mid-age son living in one home. This home started out being my mom, step dad & I home...I later purchased it from them when they moved to Florida.

Anyhow, at age 18 is when I stopped laying out, the whole family would sit in their back yards & turn their chairs to watch me.

I could list several things they did wrong, but I cut to the biggies. Oh next big, I now own this house w/my hubby, I am sleeping & hear a chain saw, I run out side in a LONG robe & ask this fu*ker what he thinks he is doing, he replies, I thought you'll like your bushes trimmed so you can see out your bedroom window. Ok how did he know that was my bedroom, first off...I cussed him 4 ways to heaven, but found myself not calling the police, because we had 3 dogs when city only allows 2. The shit I dealt w/for those damn pooches of mine! I ended up paying $5000.00 to put up privacy fence, the yard was 170 feet wide by 65 across. Never happier when I sold that house. The dummy that bought it expanded her house all the way across the 65 feet, hehehe...she'll be in for a rude awakening.

April---Get the puppy. 16 is really old for a chow.

Neighbor from hell story: Our neighbor is Vietnamese. She fled in'74 during the evac with the Air Force guy who left his wife and kids for her. He has since passed on and she has no couth. She comes into our yard and takes whatever she wants. We have pine trees and they drop straw. She came into our yard, removed 7 lawnmower dump trucks full and when my nine year old asked her what she was doing she said you have too much. One day last spring we get home from work. Our trees had been butchered and the limbs left in the yard for us to take care of. Seems that she worried if a hurricane came, they might fall on her fence she she paid someone to cut our trees (all without asking). The bricks that are left over from when our house was built...I have to keep next to the house until I get ready to use them because she wants them so badly. Our neighbor across the street told me that they see her in our yard taking stuff all the time. It's really hard to blame the kids for taking the lawncare tools when it could be her. The shittin' thing is if she did the normal thing and asked we would let her have or use whatever she wanted--

Sweet kid story...

When I woke William up this am (7 yo) I told him it might snow today...He looked at me with the most innocent face and said" Mommy, it is going to snow. I prayed to God for it." :-) No snow yet, but I know the big guy will pull through for us this winter.

Real Quick...

Top 5 Songs on the OW Best Jukebox:

1. Raise a Little Hell
2. Mississippi Queen
3. Tush
4. 1999
5. Hard Habit to Break

I loved watching Pete Cullen drink a 3-liter bottle of Mountain Dew each day. Actually it was gross.

I'll make my suggestions for the AHS '88 Soundtrack later.

Why is it the only song I remember from OW Best jukebox was Jack & Diane. Diana Meggison was dating some guy named Jack (cant remember last name) and she would play it all the time... killed me!

It is so hard to believe that we were allowed to have a juke box, I mean Porcha must of fought hard to get it out & lost? Honestly there wasn't nothing nice about that guy! I don't know why he would want to work w/kids, he hated all of us! He should of been a warden. He had more power then Winik. Does anyone out there have a nice story about Porcha?

12/12/08 04:36 PM #1337

Who were the people who would walk by and kick the jukebox to make the song skip? I have never heard of any other school having a jukebox.

April Passen (Ochman)

And why? I mean that was the only sense of not being prisoners that we had was the juke box. I betcha someone w/money had to of donated it, & gave big money so it had to stay.

I remember Ricky Plunkett lip synching "Hair of the Dog" by Nazareth. "Now you're messin with - a son of a bitch"!!!!

Tara did you have a "Billy Squire" jersey tee in middle school?

Gwen, well at least she had an excuse being from another competely different country & cuture. My old neighbors behaved the same way...& they were only poor white trash from southwest Detroit.

I forgot his name but a guy who graduated a few years before us got to take it when they decided to get rid of it. He was an assistant janitor I think his name was Matt.

They got rid of it? How sad...I would of hoped the w/it's removal at least windows in that place would be put in. That has always been my theory on why that place sucked. Even the emerency ecape windows we sealed or to small for anyone but a small 3rd grader to get through. Now in 6th grade, Ms. Austin's class she actually made us do a fire drill crawling out those little windows. Once you were through your knees were dragging the ground from how low those windows were.

I really liked O.W.Best April. Probably because I was finally away from the nuns. You have no idea the hell we "st. sebastian" kids had to go thru. Susie Parrott was literally CHASED home by a nun in 8th grade. They were some mean old ladies!
