Wow!!! Now I feel like April...reading my own posts. I now am a Grandmother to 8 White American Bulldog puppies ...April do you want a puppy?

12/13/08 08:39 PM #1351

April Passen (Ochman)

Actually Gwen...The pup I am getting is a American Bulldor...LOL White American Bulldog got knocked up by Chocolate labador retriever. I haven't really seen but pictures on myspace, but I think I am getting a red & white one. She is so cute! Lisa Benton is their grandma.

Well, sad news--3 puppies haven't made it. So, we are down to 5. I think it is because she is young and clumsy---when I was trying to figure out what was going on she stepped on one and hurt it---really hurt it.

So being a good Social Studies teacher, I am watching PBS this morning (a show called Global Voices). A BBC show about how Salvation Army American and European used clothing ending up in Zambia, Africa. They start showing different kids wearing these clothes, one kid has a Bart Simpson shirt, another has a Mike Tyson, one kid has a Detroit piston's shirt...

and one lucky little African child has a yellow DEARBORN HEIGHTS DISTRICT 7 DAD'S CLUB LITTLE LEAGUE SHIRT!!!

This kind of freaked me out. Kerry laughed at me, again.

Dan- really good friends of ours were stationed in Uganda for a couple of years (they were in the Air Force) at the Embassy. They sent us pictures of children in their village. Seeing such impoverished kids wearing Bon Jovi jerseys was just too weird for me... I understand your feeling a bit. If I had seen a D-7 shirt, might have sent me over the edge...

Hooker, Thanks for posting those pics! Hope you can come back to NY soon.

Here I am at home sitting on the sofa gazing at the Christmas tree and eating fresh baked ginger cookies and tea. Kids are playing, husband watching football, cats are on my lap and the dog is at my feet (keeping them warm!).
Feeling all warm and fuzzy and rather reflective and grateful for all that is good in my life. I guess the Christmas spirit has hit me at last!

12/15/08 09:38 AM #1357

April Passen (Ochman)

Well Tracey...let me tell ya how the Christmas spirit has hit me... I decided to run to the Walmart Friday for a few thing, more than $450 and some change worth to be exact. I'm in line, ready to pay & see that I can get upto $100 off my debit. So I select for the sale to be $550 change..
Well all of a sudden, it comes up I have exceeded my limit! I am shocked, saying this is not possible, try again, again says call my bank. By this time, the cashier is given me attitude, then the lady behind her is given attitude w/the cashier, snickering & shit.
So I send my hubby to the ATM to try to get out cash, now I have a limit for cash of $200 a day, just for protection in case someone ever greets me at the ATM wanting money, I can give enough to make them happy, & not have it all cleared out at the same time.
So here I go trying to figure out which things to keep & which to get rid of...I would of left it all, but have 4 hours of shopping, trying to recollect the stuff somewhere else, just wasn't gonna happen.
So I decide all gorceries are off the list! I got my daughter saying, I really don't need anything Momma, my boys screaming...NOT MY TOYS, my hubby turning bright red & steam coming out his ears.
And still, everyone in the line either snickering, giving dirty looks...I felt like true pond scum! Like if I were trying to buy beer w/my food stamp card, or something!
Directly after I tell my hubby to go to KMart, I was able to spend $48 in items & get $50 out (at this time, I was so scared it would happen again, I didn't want to try to much of anything).
Anyhow, next day I call the Main Walmart customer Service Number to complain...GET THIS...Walmart only allows $350 a day used on a Debit card! I asked WHY DIDN'T the Cashier know? Why isn't it posted somewhere big? I mean I just don't get it, public humilation because NO ONE at Walmart knows their own policies? They took the cashier ID number & the store manager is suppose to give me a call.
My hubby wants to boycot Walmart completely. I want to Boycot the one in Taylor! I told my hubby in todays trying times, I need the cheapness of Walmart. My mother-in-law tends to think that the will offer me a gift card? I just want the cashiers to be educated on this policy, & the one little b*tch to feel the humilation I felt!

April: I can't believe you would try to make a purchase w/ out having sufficient funds in your account.

Shame on you.

12/15/08 01:13 PM #1359

Tracey Ulrich (Dawson)

LOL, Robert, you make me laugh!

I'm sorry it happened to you April. Where is the empathy in this world?? All those other customers getting impatient! The clerk should have known better too.

Just wait a little longer, Obama will make all those problems disappear!

April-I have never heard of such a thing. Usually the bank sets your limits on debt or credit side of a check card. I have been in banking for 20 years and have never heard about a retailer setting limits. Good to know.

12/15/08 06:04 PM #1363

April Passen (Ochman)

Ok Mr. Wallace...how will he make it all go away? Just curious on your outlook. Is he going to do away w/Walmart? Sell us out to China?

Robert my theory was well I was in Taylor? Just wanted to fit in w/the other white trash...lol

But no on a serious note...I don't think anyone is capable of making any great change, anytime soon. No matter how good the intent is!

12/15/08 06:08 PM #1364

April Passen (Ochman)

I believe or hope that it is fairly new because the employee don't seem to know about it either! I was told it was for my own safety that Walmart has a protection of how many times in one day & limits. Now Shannon I do not have the credit/debit...refuse to give any chances, I want a pin number to have to be provided. I'm still in love w/old technology I like checks so there is a paper trail & ID required. Not that all that can't be faked too, but at least the theif would have to put some money & effort into it...lol

12/15/08 06:12 PM #1365

Shannon Krych (Hofer)

April-When you give out a check, you give a total stranger your routing number and account number to your bank along with you name and complete address. Don't mean to scare you but checks are not the best way to go... It is the easiest way for someone to steal your identity.

12/15/08 06:16 PM #1366

April Passen (Ochman)

Very good point! I usually only use checks for pay over the phone to my bills collectors, aka mortgage, TV...all of those people who already have it. I use the regular debit for Kmart, Meijer & Walmart.

When we moved to PA I had to write a check for water and sewer and just about died. I hadn't written a check in 3 years. They have no auto pay and no way to pay in person. I had to have B of A order me checks so I could pay my water and sewer. Killed me. Through my a** off to have to write a check.

12/15/08 06:29 PM #1368

April Passen (Ochman)

My water & sewage is the same way. In less you enroll in some sort of 3rd party program, to much time. I just can't believe that a company would set limits & not have it posted nor inform their employees! And is that for just the debit cards, or the visa/debit too or credit? I just can't believe it, what if I was buying a big screen TV at $500?

12/15/08 06:35 PM #1369

Shannon Krych (Hofer)

VISA debt cards are controlled by your bank. Most times the limit is 1000.00 but if you need to go higher, just let them know and they will OK the new limit for one time purchase. Most VISA debt cards are 500.00 ATM per transaction and 1000.00 per Check Card transaction.
