After graduation, I attended Henry Ford CC and then Eastern Michigan graduating with an education degree. I was hired as a Sports Supervisor/Asst. Manager for the Rec. Dept. for the City of Dearborn Heights. I coached two baseball teams that won the state championship in 75 and 79. I also coached at Crestwood High School, where we won the league championship (80'). One of my players became a professional baseball player with the Minnesota Twins.
I married Karen in Nov. of 1977. I wanted to teach, but no jobs were available in the great state of MI, so Karen and I traveled and lived in New Orleans, LA, where I taught for four years. I coached a baseball and basketball team in the inner-city of New Orleans and produced/coached a NBA basketball player. My first daughter (Tamara 83') was born here and we decided to go back to Michigan in 1984 because I found a teaching job in Redford Union. I received my Master's Degree at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
I coached at RU and won two league championships in baseball. I was the President of Little Caesars Baseball Federation, which was the largest youth baseball League in Michigan.
Then, I started my "fun" job as a professional baseball scout for the Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers, and the last eight years, the Chicago White Sox. I retired from scouting two years ago (2007) because I wanted to watch my daughter, Tamara play college softball at Jackson State University in Jackson MS, my daughter, Andrea at Adrian College in Adrian MI, and my son, Matthew, who is currently in his senior year as a pitcher for Madonna University (All graduates of Annapolis High School)
I was the first inductee to the U.S.S.S.A HALL OF FAME for my contributions to baseball in the state of Michigan.
I still currently teach in Redford Union (Middle School) because I enjoy it. My daughters, Tamara and Andrea are both teachers. My wife and I will be celebrating our 33rd Wedding Anniversary in November.
Because of my long history of coaching, Major League Scouting, dedication as the President of Little Caesars, and of course watching my kids play youth sports, my family and I have been able to travel around the country.
