Suzi Columbia Speiser

My husband and I moved back to Defiance in May of 2008 from Columbus, Georgia when JM moved my husband back to the Defiance Plant. He lost his battle with Cancer in Oct. of 2008 and I have remained in Defiance since.

I have lived in Norfolk, Va., Austin, Tx., Honolulu, Hi., Columbus, Ga., and reside now in Defiance.

I worked as a Travel Agent in Defiance, Austin, Texas and Honolulu, Hawaii.
I also managed the Bonded Oil gas station and later the BP Gas/Mini mart and car wash here in Defiance.

I have two daughters, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren!!

My husband had been transferred to Alabama in 2004 after the fire at the JM Columbus Ave. plant here in Defiance. We lived there four years and JM transferred us back to Defiance in 2008 and 7 months later I lost him to Cancer.
Since then I have stayed in Defiance.

Life has been good!

I guess my favorite class was Chemistry with Mr. Kenneth Hultz. I learned so much from him and think he was my favorite teacher.

I was extremely shy, (I still am), and so I signed up for Speech class and still remember the beet red face and neck and burning cheeks when I had to stand up and speak in front of the class to give a speech. It was extremely hard for me but I do believe it did help me later in life.

I did attend Slocum grade school.

Freshman year I had a crush on a drummer in the band and years later I married him, my high school sweetheart, Jim Wolff. We had two beautiful daughters, Lisa and Lori. We lived in Norfolk, Va. where he served in the US Navy. We were divorced after 5 years of marriage.
