Hi,
I just spent more hours than I care to admit reading all the messages from the begining. I got "hooked" late..... and boy was it worth it. I feel 17 again!!!!! My husband always says "you can never go back" when I start on my high school stories when we drive to Jersey but is he ever wrong. Sorry husbands out there. It does happen occasionally.
Sal Piro... pretty funny he is our favored memory. I have the album we made when he directed and stared in the play Bye Bye Birdie. I'll put it on a CD and bring it to the reunion. Talk about sounding like kids. I hate to ask, but is he still alive? If so, he has to come.
Boom-Bom Ladonne ... does anyone ever remember the discussion we had in class about capital punishment? There was legislation or something going on about it and she was so against it she just about burst out of her skin (and it wouldn't have taken much) when "some " people said it was right. She went on about anyone who would murder another has to be mentally ill and you can't use capital punishment on the metally ill. I think "someone" just took up the other side just to see her burst.
How about the first computer at MHC? Today we all are on the computer chatting, but remember when "the COMPUTER" was in that small room off the front lobby by the gym doors? There was a phone you had to hook up to it and only really smart kids got to use it. I remember John O'Connel making a big deal that a group of us couldn't watch because we didn't have permission. Today I work with severly handicapped people and I have them using it. I guess you didn't have to be all that smart after all.
Bill Casey.... you still make me laugh! So what do you actually do besides ride yaks when your company sends you to China? Or are they just trying to keep you out of the office? Hope, Faith, Mary, Dean and I got together a couple of months ago and we were actually talking about your old purple car. Still have it?
Mr. Poggie ... Does anyone know if he is still teaching? Our class may have been the poor ruin of that good man. Singing Happy Birthday to him everyday... singing Green Acres in the middle of class... people showing up at his wedding. His brother Peter Poggie was in my second grade class and he was the first boy I had a crush on. I was amazed when his brother was my history teacher. His was the first class I ever got an A in. Any connection?
How about typing class? I had to drop that one. Home EC where the big deal was that boys... Kelleher & Genvrino to name two... were in class. Oh that apron was a beauty. How about singing Back in the USSR every time a plane went over in English class? We were a musical group I now realize.
Sorry this ended up being as long as Elmer's notes (hahha) but I'm on a memory roll. One last question, was the German teacher's name Sr. Perpetua? I got her mixed up with Sr. Stanislaus and thanks to your picture JoAnn, I see I was wrong. What did she teach? I thought she was as old as she is in the picture back in 78. I also need Linda Ferguson to age a bit between now and October. I for one have aged and gained weight everyday since this reuinion date was set. Thanks Cheryl. I was doing well before this.
This sure is fun!!
