Deborah Kozak (Martin)

I need some prayers ....some very good friends of ours that live in New Orleans, who we actually met because of Hurricane Katrina, are now in the evacuation mode and heading here to Georgia once again due to Hurricane Gustav. Three years ago on the day Katrina hit N.O., we received a call from them inquiring about our rental property here. They had nothing except the shirts on their backs, their dog and their son. They were moved into our home immediately and proceeded to find out they had lost all five of their homes in New Orleans, thanks to Katrina. GiGi cried for weeks, yet she was incredibly thankful they had escaped alive and unharmed. They finally went back to N.O. after six months in GA to find nothing but devastation. And now they're running again, with even more fear because apparently if Gustav doesn't do alot of damage, T.S. Hannah is heading down the same path as Katrina, and its right on Gustav's heels. Please please please keep them all in your prayers. And I pray for all of our classmates in FL that y'all stay safe with these approaching storms.

Bucky-

Did you get to the Reservoir Tavern? Did you have fun in Fort Lee?

I hope your trip went well!

Love, Kathleen

Lisa-

Where did the picture of that bug in your pool go? I wanted to show my husband. You are hysterical . . . I laughed so hard at the caption (Where's Waldo?) under your recent photo. You look awesome, by the way, and you look so happy! Sven is sooooooooooo handsome! My goodness, is he a keeper or what? Will there be wedding bells soon?

Love, Kathleen

Kath,

Ditto on "Sven", that's probably why he is not coming to the reunion. Lisa told me he was not coming because he had to take care of the animals at home. Hmmmmmmmm, I'm starting to think differently now.

I will definitely pass along your "hello's" to anyone I see this weekend.

Deb,

My heart and prayers go out to your friends. How devastating it must be for them. I sometimes complain about living in New Jersey, but thank God we really don't ever have to worry about those horrible hurricanes. PRAYERS, PRAYERS AND MORE PRAYERS!!!!!

Bez-

I agree, Lisa just wants to keep "Sven" to herself. Can't blame her! Don't they have kennels in AZ for the animals? By the way, thats a great picture of you and Michael that Kathy posted!

Thank you for the prayers. I just cringed when I heard the pain in GiGi's voice tonight. She's about the sweetest person on the face of this earth and I hate to see her suffer. Although its only "things" that she lost and could be replaced, she didn't think she'd be going thru this yet possibly again. Katrina was supposed to be a once in a 100 years storm. Did you know she Googled Gustav, and Gustav's wife from the middle ages was named Katrina. How spooky is that? And by the way, she's a teacher and of course worried sick now about her students getting to safety. Got to love all you teachers out there!

By the way, great idea about the cell phone and listening in on the concert! Have a great time and tell everyone I said hello.

Kathleen,
The bug is back just for you. I think it's the 4th or 5th one on my profile. It's called a PaloVerde Beetle and it invades us in the middle of summer when we start to get rain. It is so disgusting and to add to the horror of the thing,it also flies. A typical one is about 4 or 5" long and they seem to delight in lounging in my pool.
My Sven is a hottie ,isn't he...and he looks even better with his new shorter haircut. Now he is very moderno sans the hockey hair. As for me... I wish I looked as good as I did in those pics. You can see they are from a few years back. Sven has wreaked havoc with my waist line...I'm now a pro at avoiding his camera. As I tell my friends, hey I expand I contract...However I certainly wish I could wave the magic wand and remove about 40 pounds or so. Too bad Liz finished her patio. I think Kevin mentioned not eating for a month....and all you people keep talking about is deli's and bakeries and pizzarias... I have a magnet on my fridge which says.."Nevertheless, a girl must eat." ...but thanks for the compliment. It's a goal I have to get back to. Really looking forward to seeing you, Kath! Enjoy the bug photo.
xoxo Lisa

Joanne,
Please forward Dan's APO once we has an established adress. Sean M is this month's package and I asked him distribute to the young, single troops. Matt's package went about 2 weeks ago. Yesterday we add our "Welcome Home" party for three of our close friends. Are you driving to the Famly Day? You are more than welcome to crash here if the drive is too long (I think we are about the half way point). We have an extra room here and the door is always open.

Liz,
Thank you for the email address, Sean and I have emailed several tmes. Turns out, we have mutual friends/co-workers and have been posted at the same locations.

Hi Maureen(Sully)...
I talked with Matt last night and he did receive your package!! He said to say "thank you". Was soo thoughtful of you to think of him. His hours of on duty always change. He is now working from 2am-2pm. I guess since men are going on leave and such, his day off changes too. So he can cover that post when they are gone. He has been denied leave for the second time. His last chance is in Oct. but he told me it would be just a tease to come home for 2 weeks and then have to go back for the rest of his tour.

I will get Dan's APO also. So, how is Sean doing? He does look so handsome in that photo with his handsome boys too. Love the pic of him on the golf course.

Well....Hooah to you both!! Go Army!!!
but got to say ..Semper Fi for my son Dan too!!

Lisa-

Thank you very much for putting that picture of "THE BUG" back on your profile. I showed my husband and son and, yes, my son was HORRIFIED. That's absolutely disgusting! I'm not sure if you would ever find me outside in the summer if I knew something like that was anywhere near me. Ewwwwwwwwwww! Do they bite?

Deb-

I hope your friend made it safe and sound to you from New Orleans. Luckily, it seems like our prayers have been answered as far as how strong this stinkin' storm is. Thank you God!

Sully-

You are sooooooooooo sweet for sending packages to our soldiers! That is just so kind. I was thinking it would be a fun idea for all of us as a class to do something for them together. What do you put in the packages? I was thinking that books, games, CD's, soap, deodorant, to name a few? Did you get a babysitter for Sean? You look great, by the way, and you have a beautiful family.

Love to all, Kathleen

Hi everyone,
Some of you may remeber that I actually didn't finish high school at MCHS (I left in February of Senior year) and for that reason, I realize that I don't know who went to the prom with whom. I would enjoy hearing some prom stories and seeing some pics if anyone has time to post a few...or just bring them next month and give me yet another thing to look forward to.

Deb, How did your friend make out? I hope the storm misssed her.

Kathleen,
David (Sven ) won't swim in the pool at night during July because those disgusting flying beetles seem to enjoy his blonde hair!...and he doesn't enjoy anything about them. Can you blame him?

John/Cheryl are we gonna make the minimum # of attendees??? What happens if we don't. I say Pizza at Carmagnolas followed by Pizza at the Tavern, followed by Pizza at Cathy Ough's followed by wings at Hooters! ( it would be my first time ever at Hooters).
Time's flying now.
xoxo Lisa

How about Paul's Diner in Mtn. Lakes or Par-Troy Diner or Dakota Diner in Montville at 2:00 a.m. - chicken salad on rye, or Cheeseburger Deluxe? Does anyone remember that?

Kathleen Gallagher (Murphy)

I liked french fries with brown gravy at Paul's Diner!

You are all making me hungry! At least we have a back-up plan if not enough people RSVP, but I'm sure we'll be fine.

Lisa, JoAnn, Kevin, Bez, etc.... thanks for the well wishes for our New Orleans friends. They haven't yet made it into Peachtree City but as you probably know getting out of LA this morning was not easy. We were out and about today and couldn't believe how many LA plates we saw, I guess 2 million people had to go somewhere!

Kathy G and all,
Great to hear from you. I have an idea re: what to place in packages for soldiers. I usually send 1-2 per month to either friends we know or if I am short (has not happened but once so far), I will pick a name off the anysoldier.com site. This is a list of soldiers who register because they really do not have anyone to have send them a package. BUT, here is my thought TO ALL....I will still send Séan a package next week, since I promised him, but how about I gather items from everyone who wishes to participate and I will create a "MC Wishes you Well and Keep Safe" package. We can print off pictures from the reunion, anyone can include a card/note, if there is a T-shirt created we can include, etc...you get my drift. I will compile all the "stuff" and send off to his military address. It would arrive about Thanksgiving (which is a hard time for those deployed. If this sounds like a "doer" maybe the site admin can post it on the page where the golf announcement is and or I could compose something and the site admin could send a mass email. Comments?!

Maureen

Oh yeah, Cheryl Knapp's beautiful daughter is going to babysit my Séan Christopher! See you in a month and a few!

Lisa,
I totally agree. It is the least we can do for all that they are doing for us.

Hard to believe that tomorrow it will be only a month until the reunion. YIKES!!!!! Still so much to do and still classmates to find.

I will pull together the request list, and compose a document explaining the "mission" this weekend. Thanks all for your support.
