Good morning to all of you,
I have just finished the most recent page of posts, simply can't find the time to go back further. Love reading about what you all are up to.
I think the soldier's care package is an awesome idea, and welcome the dot com access as my family enjoys doing something special around the holiday for those in need. (Great Idea...perfect idea).

I've had a chance to peruse the newcomer's profiles and revisit others. Enjoyed it immensely. Everyone looks great!...I'm a little intimidated....

Deb,
My prayers to your friends in the Gulf Coast. My son and I were in Biloxy last summer helping rebuild even after a few years...Fema trailers were still everywhere, entire housing develpments still abandonded...can't immagine the devastation of facing that again.

My best to all of you who are checking in with the forum. Am really looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks.
Have a great day and all of you who are traveling to NJ for the weekend of the fourth....safe trip.
Have a wonderful day.
Marlene

To All in the path of Hanna,

Be safe with "Hanna" approaching and batten down those hatches. Tomorrow looks like a horrible day for the entire east coast.

Deb,

How did your friend, Gigi, make out? When did she finally arrive in Georgia?

Happy Belated Birthday Joanne... and thanks to everyone for my birthday wishes!!

Maureen, What a great idea putting the packages together from the class of '78. I went on the anysoldier.com website and I can't believe the things these people want/need. I thought I'd be putting a package together with all candy, magazines, and fun things. A package to just cheer them up and let them know they're not forgotten!! It was very disturbing to see what they're asking for., deodorant, tampons, underwear?!?!? I am shocked that they aren't provided with those things!!!! :o( But then again, I really shouldn't be... my mom was a 100% disabled american vet and i spent ALOT of time in the VA hospitals. They aren't really treated that well there either!!! I have an 80th birthday party to go to next week. She really doesn't want any gifts, blah blah blah. I think I'm going to send a package out, in her name, instead. Kind of like I've adopted some soldiers for her!!!

Carol,
Let your Mom know you sent a package in her name. You may be surprised how much it will touch her.

Bez, Marlene, Lisa, and JoAnne-

Thanks for all of your well wishes for my friends in N.O. They are okay, as you know Gustav wasn't anywhere as bad as Katrina. Now we are hoping Ike calms down soon!

Carol,

I finally scanned & posted a few Zimmerman Architects' project photos (since our website is still under construction). There are a few on my profile and a few on Faith's. Now that I see how easy it is, I'll get to the personal and family photos.

Hi Everyone...I'm back..well, trip was good. Got to hug and squeeze my Danny boy, didn't know if he liked it much. We had bad weather on Friday, but Sat. was great, even though he was on call and couldn't leave the county area, we did ok. Just being with him and taking him out for lunch and dinner, man...that kid can eat!

I really appreciate all your thoughts and wishes. To think I wasn't going to go to the reunion. How could I not give each of you all a big hug, you all are the best!! Dan does leave on the 15th of Sept. He was just promoted to Lance Corporal. Another piece of news also we heard on the trip was my other son, Matt, was promoted to Sergeant that same weekend. How funny is that.

Marlene, the pics of your vacation came out great, and seems like you had a wonderful time. What an experience that must have been. Hope to see more of them, love looking at pics.

Carol...thanks and hope you had a fun-filled bday as well. They come and go too fast.
Hope all the storms ahead by pass everybody. We just had a lot of rain when in SC. how about anybody else, you all ok??

and...Lisa....no thanks on land in Yuma....haaaa....I had a taste of SC and its way too hot and buggy for me.

Hope & Faith -
What great before/after photos - you are both truly talented. Ever think of opening an office in Florida !

JoAnn -
Congratulations to both of your sons on their promotions - how proud you must be -

My daughter is not military, but lives about 6 1/2 hours away from me & it drives me crazy that she's so far away - I can relate to how much you miss them when they're not close, but couldn't even begin to imagine how you must feel when they're deployed - I will keep them in my prayers.

Hi Cheryl S. is your daughter at college? It must be hard I am sure of it. My neices and nephews have gone off to college and their not even mine, and I miss them. And you know what? I think we have the same bday!! So happy bday to you too, a little late. Hope it was a great day for you.

09/08/08 11:34 PM #749

Cheryl Smith (Rapoano)

No, she's not away at college - she is married; she has gone back to school though - she & her husband live up in the Panhandle, in Destin - it's by Ft. Walton Beach & near Pensacola, so every time a hurricane heads into the Gulf I freak out! I'd rather the storms come to me so I don't have to worry about the 2 of them. The not being able to see them whenever you want is so hard, but I am very fortunate in that I speak to her every day -

We do share a B-day - Happy Belated Birthday to you too! There's quite a few of us all around the same time - November '59 must have been verrry cold !

John,
I'm glad the numbers are working out especially after you and Cheryl and the rest of the helpers have worked so hard. There is no way we can all express our gratitude sufficiently. It's going to be a special reunion whatever the numbers! John...You are a doll...and ps. Good job on finally getting the family photos posted!
Expected a big thank you hug from me in about 4 weeks!
xoxo Lisa

Cheryl,
Have you ever thought about moving out of Florida?..a hurricane or 2 every year...How can you stand it?
JoAnn,
You better be coming...What are you even thinking....

Faith and Hope,
I've got a real project for you out here and I bet you can guess who lives in it!!! Love your work. Good job girls!
See you soon everyone,
xoxo Lisa

Lisa -

It's really not all that bad - a few months out of the year & most of the time they're really mild or don't come near us. We got really lucky during TS Fay - the Daytona Beach area sat in the eye of the storm for a day & a half - there was little wind & even less rain. The flip side of that was the surrounding areas got over 30" of rain in that same timeframe and there are still areas that are flooded. The St. John's river didn't crest until last week, so those folks were really sweating it.

I look at it this way - whereever we are there will be something we have to deal with; hurricanes, snowstorms, tornados, etc - I'm 5 minutes from the beach and it's almost always beautiful weather - so what's a little hurricane now & then!

Can't wait to see you & everyone in a few short weeks. Safe travels.

Cheryl

Deborah Kozak (Martin)

Cheryl-

You hit it on the nose, even though we get the remnants of alot of the hurricanes and tropical storms here in GA, we have no snow or ice to deal with in the winter time. Daytona seems blanketed from the brunt of most storms if I am not mistaken? And Destin - its our number one vacation spot! I was just there in May for a girls long weekend away and had a blast. Can't beat their white silky beaches and turquoise water! Where does you daughter live there? We've rented a few condos and prefer the San Destin area since its not as built up. My husband just did a huge entry door job in San Destin right on the beach. (He's always finding a reason to go down there!)

To the Zimmerman ladies - wow, your work is awesome! Do you travel out of state?

09/09/08 12:41 PM #755

Faith Zimmerman

Debbie,
Thanks for the compliment. We have done a few projects outside of NJ, but we're only currently licensed in NJ, NY & PA. Some states don't require house designers to be licensed. (NJ does.) We did do a new house in Canada a couple of years ago.

Kevin,
It's really EASY to post pictures, once you have it saved on your computer in some type of digital format. It literally takes minutes to get it on there.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what your showrooms look like!
