Steve, I love the Greg Marion original! How fun and fabulous that you held onto it for all these years. ...and Cheryl, I really enjoyed the slide show...especially the photos of Coaches Poggi and Halloran. There is a Father Davis in the slide show...I have ZERO recollection of him...someone fill me in???? Lisa
I think I would need two lei's! (Oh my gosh, you guys and gals are hilarious - thank you so much for spritzing up my what was starting to be a lousy day!)
Steve- How on earth did you hold onto something like that for so long? Its a classic- should be framed!
Faith and Hope and Frank, Nice pool cabana and garage. I would love that pool cabana (and Bucky as cabana boy) in my backyard for my pool. Wishful thinking.
Tom, Sent your nephews info to Maureen "Sully" Sullivan, she will put his name on the list to send care pkgs. too. That is awesome!! Congrats to him and you for being soo proud of him!
I spent the last 4 hours going thru the message board it is addicting. Thanks Joanne for the comments and referral to Maureen Sullivan. I got to keep up on the stories here.
Okay people, this is going to be kind of long. But last night was Back to School night at MC and it was different from any other Back to School night that I’ve attended over the last 5 years. The first one, for my daughter in 2004, I was utterly amazed that at first glance how little the school had changed over the last 30 years; don’t get me wrong the school has changed but, I thought that 30 years of progress would be more noticeable. The next three Back to Schools were just that, getting to know the teachers and what their expectations were to be.
This year was different. Reminiscing with you all and thinking about our high school days had me in a totally different space last night. I hadn’t realized that pretty much every corner of that school holds at least one memory. Jonathan’s homeroom is in the biology lab, anyone else remember Mrs. Kiernan? The world history teacher has his classroom in 214, which was Mr. Poggi’s class and this teacher is just as enthusiastic as Mr. Poggi was about getting the students to learn, even if it involves untraditional teaching methods. Sr. Stanislaus was standing outside of her classroom and I just bet she was looking at the way the parents were dressed and mentally taking notes of how they were dressed and “bam” memories of dreading passing her room that I might be caught out of uniform somehow came to me.
These thoughts and many others hadn’t occurred to me in my previous visits to MC, but they were great memories and I thank all of you for making these memories come to light for me last night. I think I had more fun last night than any other Back to School night I’ve ever been to. I was even chuckling to myself at one point and the parent sitting next to me looked at me like I was strange, but I’m used to that.
See you all in 15 days.
Rich
Oh and whoever suggested writing this in Word then cut and paste - thank you this avoided the embarrassment of misspellings.
