Steve Miller is still performing??? How was it Greg? I still have his album "Fly Like An Eagle". They were awesome back then, bet they still are!

Tom- we're up to about 3 inches of snow. Its a record for as long as we've lived here. Its totally insane. My pond plants were all drooping so I was out there brushing the snow of their branches with a broom. I think the fish are in shock. I heard Jersey is going to get hit tonight???

March - In like a lion!

Deb - love it when it snows in Atlanta, but if I remember correctly, the locals don’t know how to drive in it! Stay safe!

The Steve Miller Band was great. Sold out show. One of the Doobie Brothers (Pat Simmons) lives here and played a few songs as a guest with the band. We were real close to the stage. Had several $5 beers and a good time.

Maureen,
Meant to tell you your Seven pools/Eight pools story was great. Made me laugh out loud. I have a friend in Atlanta who posted a beautiful pic of her home covered in snow and my family in NY and NJ are expected about 6" tonight from what they tell me.
Our weekend project was to put up a small garden arbour in the backyard but unfortunately ,while pounding in the posts, we created a gusher (pounded a hole right through one of the pool water lines....that puts a real damper on weekend plans I'll tell ya! Hope all of you had a great weekend. For those of you in NJ, winter's gotta end sometime, right!
xoxo Lisa

And its no surprise we now have a snowday tomorrow! Of course, without plows and salt trucks there's no way to deal with the ice leftover from the storm. FUN FUN.

This snow is crazy!!. For me I love it. If it has to be cold and winter it might as well be white. At least there's something to do. Yeah let's go play in the snow!! I have a snow day today. THere is a god!!.
Steve Miller band , now that brings back some memories.
THe B52's are playing in Morristown In May. Now there's another band from our time.
Hope all is well with everyone.

Well thank God for Friends, 12+ inches of snow no school and a Good Friend with a Snow Blower......

= no back strain.

It is a pretty site and I for one am glad we got at least one good storm this winter. Hey the Parade was good got to see the Governor of NJ.... nice to see my tax dollars at work.

and those of you on Facebook, I am addicted to the mob wars game, I guess I married into the Mob.

03/02/09 07:19 PM #1420

Deborah Kozak (Martin)

Tom-

I am so confused with Facebook. What is mob wars? And how do you post something that you don't want all of your friends in Facebook to see. For instance, I don't want my sister-in-law to know I'm coming to Michigan to see my parents or she'll want to see me and I frankly won't have the time. And I can just imagine what Mob Wars is! EXPLAIN!

Was the Governor in an armored car????

03/02/09 11:24 PM #1421

Thomas J. Cornine

Deb,

Mob Wars is a very addicting game on Facebook, you can use it to relieve some stress I find myself looking to regenerate points or energy. I will invite you to be a part of my mob, Or I hear we have other Mob Ma's out there....

No the Governor was walking, leading 3 chevy suburbans and about 30 police escorts, guess he was in unfriendly territory. Funny story once I was introduced to a client by a receptionist as Jon Corzine, I just replied close cept for 3 letters and about $400 million dollars....

03/03/09 02:51 PM #1422

Deborah Kozak (Martin)

Tom-

I will have to give it a shot! These days I need some major stress relievers!

Wow, 30 police escorts, that's alot of taxpayers money but you're probably right about unfriendly territory. Down here in the south they do the strangest thing when there is a funeral procession (civilian). They lead the procession and they use patrol cars to block off all arteries of major roads. Then they follow the procession not allowing any cars in the passing lanes if applicable. Its really bizarre. My husband says its because the police don't have anything better to do.

So the snowplows are humming in Jersey?? We're still a bit cold here (high 40s) but its supposed to warm up by Sunday to low 80s! The daffodils blooms survived the snow, barely!

Noreen and Tom - are you buried in????

03/03/09 03:37 PM #1423

Greg Nesbitt

Debbie K,

In Rural TX, When a Funeral procession comes by in your lane or the opposing lane, Drivers pull off to the side of road for respect of the dead and the family. When we buried my parents in NJ we could not get across RT 10 in one line.
This just adds more stress to out of towners who may not know the area. I guess if your alive you have the time to wait. If you are above ground, you are having a great day.

Greg M.

Happy Bday.

Weather today, 80deg and Sunny and hopefully no fires.

Check back with me in Aug/Sept. when it is 100+ for the 40th day.

Greg N.

Deborah Kozak (Martin)

Greg N- I believe you about the funeral processions in Jersey! Everyone is always in a hurry but down here, things are slower. Sometimes that is good but often times, its a pain! How horrible that must have been not to be able to get across Rte 10.

80 degrees? I'll take it! And I don't mind 100+ degree weather..at least you are not chilled to the bone.

Lisa - were you born under a Water Sign? Water falls, gushers, pool pipes! Just kidding! Perhaps we should call you "The Weekend Water Warrior"!

Shade - agree totally about snow - if it is going to be cold, it might as well snow!

Tom - were you able to take the kids with you to the parade?

Deb - agree with you about the funeral processions in the South! I can attest to the frustration! That being said, when my time is up I will expect traffic to grind to a halt on said occasion.

Greg N - Sorry about your parents. The family and pools are beautiful. Is Crockett a “Marley” type?

03/03/09 06:31 PM #1426

Deborah Kozak (Martin)

Maureen- ditto that on dying in the south...what a way to get to travel in style! (I better limit my trips to Michigan, they don't do anything of this sort up there!)

Greg- the pools are awesome! The stone work is especially breath-taking. Good for you that you found your niche. I hope business is plentiful for you with this sluggish economy, its staggering for us right now. And your family is adorable- I believe your son has the same s... eating grin i remember you having! :}

03/03/09 09:48 PM #1427

Greg Nesbitt

Debbie K.

I have not built a pool since March '08. Needless to say the economy is slowing way down here, And according to reports I live in the healthiest part of the US. The equipment I have is running at 50% at best. Fortunately my overhead is low. I have been able to scrounge up work doing Septics, Utilities and Site Cleanup. It has been a struggle. Pools are dead, You need a septic ever day, you don't need a pool.

Maureen Farrell,

Crockett is not a Marley but he and his brother Boone have been the best dogs I have had. Lost Boone due to heat stroke a few years back. They are big Labs, Crockett is 115 and Boone was bigger than him. We invite the Vet over for drinks when he needs his shots. My wife cant get him in the Suburban.

Maureen,

I enticed my youngest Matthew by Bribery, It was Friggin cold for this old man. We lasted 2 hours then left. He can't drink or drive yet so we got cold quick.

My Oldest Doesn't much care for me right now, its that 13 going on 33 I know more than you crap. He turns 14 in June....if he makes it.

Happy Birthday to the lovely Connie Bev! You were always there with a laugh and a smile.

Greg N - Sorry about Boone. You are lucky to have had such a good dog. Don't ask how or why, but I could round up a swarm of Yellow Jackets to perform a sting operation on the Ramblin' Wreck in your garage!

Tom - sounds like you need some Irish Coffee!

March Madness continues -- Go Blue Devils!

03/04/09 07:19 PM #1430

Deborah Kozak (Martin)

Does Duke play tonight??? I've lost track!

Greg- yes I know, its just like us with fencing. You can do without them in this economy. We're getting some business but its not enough. And to make things worse, we are getting beat to the ground by businesses that aren't insured and are hiring illegals. Lovely.

Tom - my 15 yr old has the same attitude until she needs something. Then I'm her best friend! Do you get that too? Bet boys are different though, probably not as needy.

03/04/09 08:09 PM #1431

Greg Nesbitt

Maureen Farrell,

I hope my wife does not read your post, That is not a Ramblin Wreck, It is a classic 64 Impala that needs a little work. It is also the first car I ever drove and only has 50K miles on it. I can't get rid of it, I have had it for too long. Plus it keeps junk from piling up in the garage.

Debbie K.

The bidding situation down here is going to the dogs. Contractors are now doing jobs for cash flow and not profit. I figure I can go broke staying at home and seeing what Barney and Andy are doing today instead of working my butt off for nothing. A local contractor who I respect told me, No one has ever gone out of business from the jobs that they didn't get but by getting jobs that they should not have gotten. I just keep working my network and keeping my name in front of people. You would be surprised how many times it has provided opportunity, The other saying that is true is: "Nothing has ever been sold from your office, Get out and in front of people"

Greg N.

Greg N - Sorry, it was meant as a compliment since I figured it was a valuable classic -- have you seen pictures of the GA Tech car that is known as The Ramblin' Wreck? Very nice indeed.

Deb - Duke beat FL State last night but plays Carolina on Sunday, then the ACC Tourney begins in Atlanta next Thursday.

If no one minds I have one more comment to add on the funeral procession topic. In Italian neighborhoods, it is a tradition that when someone dies, the funeral hearse drives the body slowly through the neighborhood of the deceased on the way to the cemetery. Neighbors come out to show their respect as the hearse passes by. My grandmother died last July at the age of 92. She lived in Tucson for the last 30 years of her life, but in her final year, she resided near her son's home in Long Island. Although my Grandmother lived out her last days in a nursing home there, the hearse drove through my Uncle's neighborhood because many of the neighbors had known my grandmother. Some came out to show respect as her hearse passed by and I found it extremely touching.

Promise I'll write of happier things next time!
Maureen...I think you have a sharp mind and a keen wit...much like myself!
Connie...if you're out there...Birthday hug for you!
Tom, You should have worn long pants instead of the kilt..you would have been warmer.:)
