I dated Ken for a short time in junior year.  I remember him as very bright, with a wicked sense of humor; we enjoyed many good times.  I remember many picnic type trips with him and a whole crowd of classmates to what is now call Angel Park at the foot of Alter Rd., where it meets the Detroit River.  I also remember how he loved to play hockey, and how several of our dates were cut short because he had to get up so early the next day for the reserved ice time at "Gordie Howe Land".  I am also a hockey fan and ran into him several times in the '80s at Joe Louis at several Red Wings games.  He became a sucessful business man and married a lovely girl who I had the pleasure of meeting several times, Laurie.  Unfortunately, Laurie passed away unexpectedly a few years back and he had a very hard time with the loss (I can relate to this; the same thing happened to me with my husband).  He is survived by two beautiful daughters and grandchildren.  RIP, Kenny!

Ken Durr went to Mt. Calvary Lutheran School with me -- the entire 8 grades.  He was slight of build, but had a great sense of humor that would come out any time.  He was one of those people when we got into the big school of Denby I'd be happy to see rounding a corner - and wouldn't feel so overwhelmed.  He always had a great smile.  I'm so sorry to hear he's passed away -- and his dear wife too.  I'm glad we have the In Memory section of our website, but it's also very sad to know some of these dear ones are gone from us.  Kenny was a genuinely nice man.
