Jane Deats Hayley

Attended Sam Houston State, quit college to marry Jimmy in 1961. Worked at Union Carbide until the arrival of our first son, Jerry in 1964. Went back to work after our second son, Jason, was in school, working for Gulf Chemical & Metallurgical until 1981 when I went to work at Danforth Hospital (later Mainland Medical Center). I have been employed at the hospital for 28 years as the assistant to the Chief Executive Officer. We lived in La Marque for 35 years before moving to Texas City in 1996. I’ve been active in a number of organizations through the years including United Methodist Women, Pilot International, College of the Mainland Foundation, and the DISD Foundation for the Future. My hobbies include my five beautiful grandchildren, traveling, reading, the beach, and entertaining.

Some of my favorite memories include attending cheerleading camp at SMU, working on the Junior Varieties, turning the cafeteria into Tara for the Senior Prom, the dances after the home football games, homecoming parades and bonfires, riding Sam’s bus with my friends, Falco’s, and skipping school to go to the beach (don’t know who was more upset—Mr. McAdams or my Dad). There were lots of wonderful teachers including Mr. Hannah and Mr. Plummer, but my all-time favorite was Mr. Otto Hill.
