Leon Fuller - 80

My years as a sprinter during the initial "Blue Smoke" years was a pivotal part of my growth and development as a person. Coach Stolley imparted a work ethic that I still use today and apply in many areas of my life.

I'm still amazed at how much talent we had on our team. My only regret is that we didn't win the State Championship in 1980. We were clearly the best team in the state. We just had one bad meet and it happened to be the last one.

Thanks, Mike. You have done a great thing by creating this site. I hope to see many of you before too much time passes. I'll have to arrange my schedule to make it to the next reunion.

I remember winning the District meet that we hosted in 1980 and having to sprint to the lockerroom along with Sylvester Baugh and Perry Asauskas right after the final event to change clothes because we had to sing at the Mother/Daughter banquet being held in the auditorium.

As I recall, we were very hungry and had to endure singing while our stomachs growled. This was common for Perry and me because we were TR Madrigals.
