Dear marty,

I dont have enough room on here to put the thousands of pet projects i would drop!(but tell me you are drunk or jk!)

The pres himself called it imperfect!

One of the things that cracks me up about you bro is that you have ZERO to say about the facts like: When he was out there bullshittin all you cool-aid drinkers that he,
denounced pet projects as wasteful and open to abuse — and vowed reform, yet he adds billions of dollars of them and you ask what would i do diffrent ROFL!

Worst yet he tries to get people to think its old bussiness, and alot of knuckleheads think its true!!!!(like he has no control of it!)

If you were not drunk and not jk:im sure i could go into the nearly 8000 earmarks=5.5 billion and pick out a few,let me know if needed!

Furthermore, even tho you say the market is not a good way to measure how things are going,(which i totally disagree with)it sure doesn't look like im alone!

He is a one term guy if i ever saw one!(the guy doesn't have a clue what he's doing or he has a hidden agenda which could be even more scary!!

KEEPIN IT REAL,SOUP!

Marty, listing 3.7m out of 410b is kinda low i think we could keep that in there ROFL!!!!

Al K,
For the most part I agree with your statement. But the bailout money given to banks was a straight up heist from the treasury. That should have never happened. That money would have been better spent helping out the working class that giving money to banks so that they my hoard it and buy other banks, which is what is happening.

What Mark and I are discussing is the budget for 2009, which has been tied up in congress since last year. And what has not been said is the fact that the 2006 Congress vowed to cut earmarks by half from 2008 to 2009, which has happened 8800 to 4030 (not including defense since those figures haven't been released). I don't expect miracles but they have been cut. I also disagree with any earmarks going to private companies (i.e., the previously mentioned money spent on abstinence education) as opposed to research/public projects (i.e., UNM lab or any money spent for national museums).

How about we treat it like nature does?

Let the shit burn off so the regrowth can start!!!!

The forest fires of today lead to the forests of tomorrow. The heat and pressure of the fire explodes cones filled with seeds that start the growth of a new forest days after the fire has stopped.

03/12/09 11:33 AM #2044

Mark Campbell

So my prognostication is:(drum roll please!)

Stop throwing good money at bad plans and let nature take its course!!!!

Besides fires, could you imagine what would happen if we had veterinarians running out to Africa to take care of all the weak or injured wildebeests?

I'll tell you,THE WOULDN'T SURVIVE!!!!

Why you ask, because the weak and injured would mate and thier offspring would be a bunch of pussies(then crocks and lions etc. would have a field day!!!

To me if we keep up on osama's path,we will be just a bunch of "fixed up" wildebeests to the rest of the world!!!

I hope some peeps can see my thinkin(albeit kinda strange lol!)

Dear marty,

You are not alone, all my investors shit the bed on my gold mine deals because of the way things are!
I also "had" 10-12 employees at any given point(not anymore!)
On top of that i lost over 500 grand in 6 months so i feel ya bro!

Soz im in scramble mode as you and many others are!!!

"Tough times never last, tough people do!"

On top of all of that,in the last year and a half my 5 yr old boy was diagnosed with diabetes and we found out my wife had breast cancer 6 months ago!(and these things we speak of i really should be ashamed to complain about!)
But my mouth runneth amuck sometimes as you all know too well lol!!!
But only one way to go my brotha, UP!!!!!

Elisa Cullina (O'Neill)

Marty - good thing you watch Idol or you wouldn't know anything about yourself! :)

Don't mind the political talk and stuff...and I don't even mind it when it gets a litle heated on the discussion board. But sometimes it almost goes too far and becomes like a kid argument of "Did NOT!" "Did TOO!" and it becomes counter productive. And - by only reading text (not seeing faces/expressions/etc) it is easy for things to be miscontrued.

Although I do give Mark credit that he can take it as well as he can dish it out! :) And apparently he is always smiling and never really mad. So, that's cool!

Mark - seriously - that's a rough 6 months! Sorry to hear about the health issues and financial concerns. Hope your wife is well on her way to a full recovery and that you guys can keep your son's diabetes well in check. And we all certainly hope the economy goes in the right direction sooner rather than later!

03/12/09 08:43 PM #2047

Elisa Cullina (O'Neill)

Oh Marty - CONGRATS on being only 27 years old! How'd you manage to do that? Do TELL!

Marijayne Rogers (Kruus)

Mark,

You have been and will remain one of the reasons I have been so happy to reconnect with everyone on this website. While it is obvious that we disagree on the "finer" points of politics, I have always known that you are, without a doubt, a "mensch" in disguise.

For you to have given us all so much angst, frustration, laughter and joy, all while going through what must be such a difficult and frightening time ... I am at a loss for words to describe how much I admire and respect you ... despite your penchant for drug addicted lunatics such as Limbaugh.

Love ya, buddy! And you, your wife and boys will always be in my thoughts and prayers!

MJ

Mark--you never mentioned your wife having breast cancer before. I am so sorry to hear that. I hope that she is doing OK and will make a full recovery. I have met so many survivors over the past seven years since I've been doing the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. I'm doing all I can to help find a cure. I'll keep your whole family in my prayers.

I had a very interesting article forwarded to me.

The article talks about the moral implications of embryonic stem cell research - (let's not all go there) -but also about how little progress there is in embryonic stem cell research with the current stem cell lines that research was allowed on.
The reason why embryonic research is asking for so much money is because they haven't made progress and no one else will fund the research.
Apparently, there are often tumors associated with embryonic stem cells and not as much control as the researchers would like on how those cells ultimately differentiate.
BUT - the adult stem cell route is making progress!
(not sure what age they are considering adult...full sized human or anything not an embryo) Anyway - the progress is significant there and should continue. And this line of research does not even approach the moral dilemmas of embryonic stem cell research.

I find this very interesting....a route that would appease everyone - (except embryonic stem cell researchers) - church groups, scientists, the public...and yet - so little attention is focused there. WHY aren't we hearing about this on the news? Why are we being told that embryonic research is THE only way we are going to treat some diseases and maybe even cure them? Why aren't we looking at these successes and putting more money into following up with what is already working?

Not sure who is to blame - but overall it is probably the greedy American culture that is willing to put the almighty dollar above the good of the people. Troublesome.....

Glad to see some things do not change. LOL ! I haven't lurked or posted in a while. Been back at work since Feb. 4th or so. Only get a chance to "browse" in the evenings.

Tortilla,

Sorry to hear about the wife. You never mentioned that before. Hope all goes well for her, she'll be in our thoughts. I know it's a highly personal and sensitive subject. Can we guys use those 2 terms- personal and sensitive in the same sentence? LOL ! I know 2 people right now who are in the remission stage of stage 3 and 4 breast cancer treatment. They're both doing well. Great to see, because they're both really good people. My step mom is going through liver and colon cancer treatments right now. She's on her 2nd round of chemo. She's hanging tight for 81 years old though. I'm also hoping for a cure for diabetes. We have good friends whose daughter was diagnosed at 7 years old. She's 10 now and doing great. She uses a pump, but still needs help once in while, which is to be expected.

Al K.,

Still around bro. Thanks for thinking of me. Check out Facebook. Starting softball and soccer in a couple weeks. We joined a new league this year, Burr Ridge - Willowbrook. Starts and ends sooner than Westmont does. U10 fastpitch with the girls pitching this year instead of the machine. May make for some long games. I know right now my daughter needs some help in the pitching department. Took a few girls to the park today to work on some things and work off some rust. Beautiful day today and the girls had fun.

We got Bill Anderson on the list now, how about that!

Mary Cosman (Connell)

I dont have time to read all of page 83 yet. Gotta date at the park. It is spring break and it is like 59 degrees!!! Which is like bikini weather up here after a long cold winter. Anyways--- How did Phil and Ceilmar end up in Georgia together???? Anyone got the scoop on that? Will catch up later. Been working a lot due to LobsterFest at the Lob. HAve two whole days off in a row. (mon and Tues) and I was gonna pick up Tues and my manager is like Dont you dare, you never take two days off. Tell your husband you are working, but you go out and have some fun. What a great idea!! What a great boss!! Well, gonna go put on my bikini and play at the park. LOL
