Jonathan Cook

* During the last week of school (before summer break),

Jonathan Cook found out three VERY important things.

1. He was nominated for Teacher of the Year by the teachers and staff at the high school where he teaches.
This is a process where EACH school in the county nominates (by teachers and staff) a teacher in their school to represent them for county Teacher of the Year, who then goes on to represent the county in the statewide competition for Georgia Teacher of the Year.
We found out recently that he is one of the 6 finalists out of 37 schools in the county.

2. He was one of the 3 finalist for Economics Teacher of the Year for the ENTIRE state of Georgia.
There was an awards luncheon at THE Federal Reserve Bank in Downtown Atlanta to recognize the three state wide finalists.

3. When he returned back to school after the luncheon and being recognized at a state level by some of the leading educators and business people around the state, he found out that the SENIOR CLASS of 2008 had dedicated their yearbook to him.

It's one thing to be recognized by your professional peers, BUT quite another to be recognized in such
a way by the students you are teaching!!!
He is truly making a difference in our community, with what he is doing.

Congrats Jon, we are all so proud of you.
