Mr. James ‘Jimmy’ Lee Johnson, age 71, of Douglasville, GA passed away on Monday, August 11, 2008. He was born August 29, 1936 in Tuscaloosa, AL son of the late Joe P. and Lethia Morrison Johnson. Jimmy played football at the University of Alabama. Mr. Johnson was the head coach at Douglas County High School in 1974 and guided the Tigers to 124 wins in 19 seasons. His teams averaged 6.5 wins a year. Douglas County won four region championships under Johnson and a share of the 1988 North Georgia title. He was President of the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (1988-89) and coached the 1992 GACA All-Star Game. He had 20 or so college football players under his tutelage during the 10 plus years he coached at Douglas County High School.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Josephine Johnson; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Jan Johnson and Mark and Kristen Johnson, all of Douglasville, GA; 3 grandchildren, Jade, Dana, and Jack; brother and sister-in-law J.P. and Marion Johnson of Cottondale, AL; 4 nieces, Holly, Suni, MaraJo, and Nan
