Mr. Winston D. (Hammer) Baker was born September 3, 1959 to the late Clinton and Cora Baker in Pulaski, Va. On January 30, 2014, our Heavenly father in his infinite wisdom called to his reward, Winston (Hammer) Baker. God sent his angel to Giles Community Hospital and closed his eyes in that peaceful sleep, surrounded by his wife, and loving family. Winston was a graduate of Pulaski County High School Class of 1978 and employed with New River Valley Truck Plant. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Cora Baker and a sister, Peggy Baker. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Angela Baker; daughters, Tenisha Holmes, April Corn (Shannon) of Raleigh, N.C., Marcus Baker of Radford, Dominque Biggs; stepchildren, Nicole, Terry, and Trey Freeman; one brother, Ronnie Baker; sisters, Mary Frances Henderson (James) of Roanoke, Carrie Clark of Dublin, Jenny (Gary) Redd of Pulaski, Ellen (Sammy) Poindexter of Dublin, Polly (Cory Robertson) Baker, and Desera Baker both of Pulaski; the new addition to the Baker Family, triplets, Keyon, Daejon,and Laron Baker; a special mother-in-law, Jenny Edwards of Pearisburg; brother -in-law, Darren Blankenship; sisters-in-law, Vanessa (Jeff) Perkins, and Carl Evans (Mike Kirk); special friends, Prince Banks and Alfred "Al" Blankenship; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

I remember Winston in High School but we never had a class together. I'd speak to him at work, He always replied in a friendly manner, but I'm not sure he remembered me from school.
