I remember...it was right after Christmas break...9th grade World History. Mr. Richards told us that Eugene had been killed in a hunting accident. He was with a relative and stepped in front of the gun just as the relative was firing at the game.
I knew Gene from Dublin Elementary. The main thing I remember about him was how friendly he was with everyone. He was the prime example of a genuinely wholesome well mannered boy. His passing was so tragic and touched many of us deeply. Gene, your memory will live on in our hearts.
I had a few classes with Gene he was fun to be around i guess he was the first friend i had to pass away i can still remember we had gym class togather,he had a hard time with sports. We were playing basketball one day and we were on the same team and i keep throwing him the ball to shoot and he would ask me why are you doing that do you want to loose? But every time i would pass him the ball he would stop and say thank you.Over the years i thought about him from time to time and wonder why he was taken so young and to smile to still see him stop and say thank you every time i passed him the ball.I havent forgottn you and never will.
