I was shaken by this announcement  - more than most.  Chris was one of the first people I met, and one of the first to make me feel welcome when I came to Dublin High School in early February 1974.  He always had a smile and a kind, upbeat word when we saw each other.  When I finally made it to our 30th reunion, I was disappoainted that he was not among us, and no one seemed to know much about him.  I believe he was in the DC area at the end of 2021, and I wish I could have spent some time and at least had a conversation with him then.... I always thought he would do great things.  But I will never know what he went through over the last 44 years since we all knew him... I wish I had one more chance just to tell him what a positive affect he had on my life, and times in Pulaski County.  I wish I had thanked him.  You could always count on him for a smile that made you feel better - or I could anyway...  But from what I've learned, I'm afraid his smiles were fewer in recent years.  Rest in peace dear man!!  So proud to call you friend....

Of course this does not completely define Chris.  But we are researching and compiling local black history for our archives at the Calfee Community and Cultural Center where Chris's (& Cay, Olivia & Stredrick's) mom taught fourth grade.

Here is a link about Chris: Actor Chris Walker: Movie... Blue Steel, TV Series ...New York City Undercover...plus Days of Our Lives

Firstly, Thanks Mickey for posting the information about Chris.

I have a lot of great memories about Chris going back to our middle school days. He would always bring a smile to my face and would make me laugh, as he did for all of us. Rest in Peace my friend and may God Bless you and your loving family.

When I moved to Dublin at the start of the 2nd grade, Chris was probably my best friend in the class. We would call each other pretty often in the evenings. We raced a lot on the playground before school. We were pretty evenly matched, but he probably won 60% of the time. Of course, with time, we both had many other friends, but we always remained friends as far as I know. I remember seeing Mr Walker often out in his yard on Old Rt 11. He seemed to be a very fine man, perhaps lonely, after Mrs Walker passed away. I always felt a hurt for him when I saw him. In fact, the whole family was very fine and upright.
