Hi People !  Geessse, gas was only 30 cents a gallon  back then and eggs were 55 cents, milk was a whopping 45 cents....those were the times! Remember the penny candy, red wax lips, dots on paper, Black Jack gum, 3 cents for a carton of milk for lunch, chapel veils, 1st Holy Childhood, Good Fridays,  the 8th grade picnic to Wyalusing Park (you are right Mary),  what fun! We'll have to compile a list of all the teachers we had and by what grade. Hope somebody writes on here and answers me or am I here by myself?????????????? tata

Joanne Campbell (Endorf)

Linda, I almost forgot about chapel veils !! I had black and white and small ones and large ones.

I remember that the first time I wore high heels was 8th grade graduation and my Mom said no higher than 2 inches. Bless her dearly departed soul..... she was so strict. I tell people about our Catholic upbringing and they don't believe that nuns didn't allow us to wear sleeveless blouses for fear what the boys might see.... or patent leather shoes because they might reflect our underclothes ---yikes!!

Did anyone remember who was May Queen? I know it wasn't me!!! I probably was not "holy" enough.

When I came to Holy Ghost in 8th grade I had absolutely no idea how to play volleyball.....it was big in Dubuque but not where I came from ( Sioux City ). Every night I prayed to fit in.

More later (if I remember anything-ha)

Yes we did have a great  time !!! Poor Connie we probably broke her screen with the pic of the 7 of us. lol   Marilyn if your reading this, LoAnn B. is a great quilter also.  Just think..we could all get together and have a seminar or a class, or maybe just say that's what we are going to do between all the remembering. I remember LoAnn as a really good ice skater and a great volleyball player. Ah, the good ole days at Comeskey and at Gay. Hey, any of you men out there have a 1st communion pic of the boys ?? we have the girls, then again we were the really CUTE ones back then. Yes Tom White you did have a nickname .. if you don't remember it, I'll supply it  to you at the reunion. Love the video Tom K has posted.. can't ya just hear the music...WHO CROWNED MARY is still out there to respond to. (hey, I do not know.. I am asking... some of you guys  think I know, but I don't,) Susie, Connie, LoAnn, Mary..anybody got any clues to it ????? Phyllis your name was thrown in the ring..was it you?  Oh BOY, the memoriable is coming out of the woodwork.. and what fun we are having. People not signed up yet have no idea of the times they are missing. Rick Kutsch.. miss the art. Boy, we are a talented group aren't we !!!! Talk later, tata

Read Luanne's profile; we are definitely going to meet (or re-meet?) some pretty interesting people.  Com'on...everyone, get on a plane, train, or automobile and COME HOME!

Wow, just read Mary Trieweiler's profile again...isn't it amazing the different impressions our teachers made on us? And most definitely true stories...we would probably qualify for a class-action suit against education in the fifties and sixties. Brown vs. the Board of Education (segregation in Topeka, KS) was right up there with other kinds of educational inequities.

However, we are coming to the reunion to celebrate the men and women we have become, whether because of, or in spite of, those foundational years.

Perhaps we are not locating the elusive May Queen because it was a King?  Could it have been Rick Kutsch, or mercy, did Sister Germaine grab Tom Klinge from in front of the urinal and crown him King? More thoughts?

Yes, Linda, I am reading this.  Thanks for reminding me about the forum.  I just finished the top for a grandmother's flower garden quilt.  That was the first pattern I ever made back in 1969 before quilting became such a fad.  So I have come full circle in that department.  Oh, yeah, this one was all stitched by hand, whereas my first was done on a machine.  I can upload a pic if your iterested Lou Ann!

No, I do not know who crowned Mary either.  Funny how these things have faded from our minds!!!

I have most of the names of the girls on our First Communion  picture, but there again some of them elude me.  Anyone in Sr. Anthony Clarets 8th grade class remember what the 7th graders in that class all predicted what we would be doing in the future?  I think I have that list somewhere also if anyone is interested in reading it again.  Let me know!

I hope more of the class will get things posted on here.  I love it!  Thanks for all you are doing.

Hi Marilyn,  would love to read where they thought some would be.. scan it on site if you can. That quilt has a  million and one  pieces !!!!!!!  I'm sure Lo Ann and the rest of us would love to see it. There are some girls on the pic that left us earlier..Kathy O'Niell, top row, rt side.... Susuan Holland, on the left front,.... Jackie (?) Olds, back row, Donna Brimmeyer, Nancy Kronen , center of pic..., Connie Nehls, back row left. and a few others.I don't have the pic in front of me, so I'll check it again, if there are any you know let me know. Hope more get on site soon.

Sister Jonathan was a favorite at Holy Ghost.  FYI: She was a Dubuquer named Mary Ann Lonnergan (sp.?), and after leaving the convent taught at Briar Cliff College in Sioux City.  She may still be in that area.

Ooops! After digging into the far corners of my closet I discovered I no longer have those papers from eighth grade.  That musta been the scrapbook my kids destroyed when they were little.

Back to the First Communion picture.  The names I am missing are as follows:

2nd row between Suzanne Holland and Donna Brosius..probably a flower girl not in our grade.

between Linda Shireman and Betty Kluesner

Between Marla Hogan and myself..probably anothe flower girl not in our grade.

3rd row between Karen Weber and Karen Kalloway  can't see her face.  At least I think it is

             Karen Weber on the left.

4th row between Phyllis Kohnen and Doris Hirsch

No idea who the Mass servers were.  Not even sure who the assistant priests are anymore.

Oh, and the mass servers were brothers of our classmates..L..Tom Roselip and Mike Hogan, R..Tom Buerskins and Pat O'N eill.

Father Greener is the priest to the left of Monseignor (sp.?) Jaeger. He was so good looking and so nice.
