Loren T. Heber, 64, of Dubuque, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, at St. Joseph Church, Key West, Iowa, with the Rev. Michael Podhajsky officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa, with military rites accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League and the Tri-State Vietnam Vets. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a wake service at 3 p.m.

Loren was born on March 22, 1950, in Dubuque, son of Nicholas and Mary (Wehlage) Heber. He served in the Navy from 1968 to 1972. He married JoAnn Green on Nov. 3, 1973, at St. Joseph of the Prairie, rural Dubuque.

He worked for Interstate Power Company, which later became Alliant Energy, from where he retired. He was working for ITC Midwest for the past five years.

Loren was a member of the Elks Lodge 297, the Great River Amateur Radio Club and the IBEW Local 204.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, JoAnn; two sons, Sean (Melody) Heber, and Eric (Stacey) Heber; three grandsons, Amos, Sheldon and Jonas; his mother-in-law, Lois Green; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mel (Barb) Green, Ed Green, Cliff (Pat) Green, Barb Barth, Joe (Michelle) Green, Karen (Joe) Meier and Mary (Kevin) Love; and many nieces and nephews.
