Patrick J. MacInerney

Patrick J. "Pat" MacInerney, age 68, of Dubuque, was called home suddenly at 6:25 p.m., on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. To honor Pat's life, full military honors will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League at 12:00 noon, on Friday, November 24, 2017, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street. To celebrate Pat's life, family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m., until the time of services at 12:00 noon, on Friday at Behr Funeral Home.
Pat was born on March 2, 1949, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Joseph and Josephine (Scardino) MacInerney.
Pat was born and raised in Dubuque and proudly went into the Navy before returning to Dubuque to gain his marketing degree. He invested his working years with Flexsteel, Operation New View, Browns and Advance Data-Comm, before finally retiring from Disco in 2011. When Pat wasn't working he could generally be found warming up to his latest daily challenge at Jeopardy, watching the eagle's nest online to watch their progress, or even just watching the local birds enjoy his backyard feeder. We're very sad today with the sudden loss of our dear Pat, but we know that his earthly journey has come to it's last station and that we were truly blessed to be able to share in Pat's life along the way. Thank you for all of the light and love you generously spread throughout the world around you Pat and may the Lord keep you safe in His loving arms until we meet again.
Those left to cherish Pat's memory include his children, Josie MacInerney, Seymour, TN and Dawn MacInerney, Dubuque, IA; his 5 grandchildren, Kaylyn, Blayn, Devlin, Conlen and Paige; and his siblings, Michael A. (Mary Ann) MacInerney and James K. (Diane) MacInerney.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Terrance "Terry" MacInerney.
A Patrick J. "Pat" MacInerney memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among his favorite charities.
