William "Bogie" E. Redmond

William E. "Bogie" Redmond, 59, of 1340 Wood St., died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at Dubuque Nursing and Rehab Center. Committal services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 at Mueller Memorial Chapel, Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 2659 Kennedy Road.
He was born on March 11, 1950, in Dubuque, son of Harold "Whitey" and Arlita (Papenthien) Redmond. He married Tami Biedermann on Feb. 14, 1989; she preceded him in death on Oct. 26, 2006.
He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1968 and from the University of Dubuque in 1972. Bogie was first-team all-conference on the Dubuque Senior High School basketball team and played on the 1968 championship team led by coach Walt Kirk and coach Bob Zahren. He coached the Holy Cross Leo High School 1988 championship basketball team.
Bogie loved sports and played on many teams. He especially liked playing on the Airport Inn fast-pitch and Brothers III, Kirchoff's and Picketts slow-pitch teams.
Surviving are three children, Alexandra (Justin Schrader), Cody and Samantha; a brother, Steve (Cindy) Redmond; a niece, Rachel Redmond; and a special friend, Jan Grutz.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert.
