David C. Story, 65, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Finley Hospital, with his family by his side after a courageous battle with diabetes.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 13th, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd, with Mr. George Herrig officiating. Burial will follow in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, with full military detail by American Legion Post #6. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home, where there will be a prayer service at 4:30 p.m.
He was born on May 28, 1949 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Eugene and Lois (Rogers) Story. He served in the US Army from 1968 to 1970. He married Mary Lux on August 4, 1978, in Dubuque, Iowa. He worked as a master mechanic for many years and retired from the United States Postal Service.
Dave was a loving husband and father and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; three children, Shawn (Erin) Story, of Dubuque, Nicole Story, of Dubuque, and Stephanie (Mark) Dumer, of Dubuque. Four grandchildren, Sadie, Elora, David and Sam. His mother Lois Dale, of Dubuque, a sister, Nan Story, and a brother, Paul Story, both of Dubuque.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene; and his mother-in-law, Rita Lux.

While attending K-6th at Lincoln elementary I lived about a block away from David and Paul. Life was allot less complicated back in those days. We had some good times together. Then I moved away to Coralville for over three years and we never renewed our friendship. RIP David
