Mary Catherine Ungs (Standing Bear)

Note: Mary's obit was appaarently written by her daughter, Sarah Ungs Jordan. It was found on the daughter's Facebook Page.
My Mom fought the good fight for years. She survived a massive stroke that left her paralyzed on her right side, three separate bouts with cancer that left her with a damaged bladder and bowel, a heart attack, chronic diabetes, high blood pressure and multiple autoimmune disorders. I am so grateful that the Lord gave her permission to stop fighting, to lay aside her pain and to find rest and wholeness in His kingdom.
Please join me in celebrating her life:
Mary Ungs Standing Bear, 75, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on September 27, 2025. The care she received at Crestwood Hospital’s SICU was exemplary, and for that, we are grateful. She was born on July 8, 1950, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Virginia Ungs.
Mary was whip smart and had a lifelong heart for others. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Clarke University and carried her compassion into every part of her life. Known for her warmth, wit, and resilience, she touched many lives with her humor and strong spirit.
She is survived by her children, Sarah Ungs Jordan (Mark Hendrix), Ethan Eikhoff, and Luke Ungs; her beloved grandsons, Josiah, Eric, Cameron, and James Pavlik, and Arturo Hernandez; and her brothers, David (Sheila), Dennis (Leslie), Jim (Mike Blair), and Joe (Jill) Ungs.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Rivertree Church, 201 Marsheutz Ave. in Huntsville on October 11, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude for Mary’s life.
