Rose M. Valentine, age 66, of Dubuque, IA, was called home peacefully at 8:47 a.m., on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, surrounded by her loving family. To honor Rose's life, funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, with Deacon Bill Biver officiating. To celebrate Rose's life, family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m., until the time of services at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at Behr Funeral Home. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Sylvia Switch, Iowa.

Rose was born on December 20, 1949, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Alfred and Irene (Stuart) Vincent.

Rose was united in marriage to Irvin "Butch" Valentine on September 9, 1991, in Zwingle, and they were blessed with 25 wonderful years together. Rose invested over 29 years, of her time and talents, as a chef with A.R.A. at John Deere Dubuque Works . In her free-time, Rose was a naturally talented seamstress who faithfully lived and breathed to make clothing, and amazing quilts, for her beloved family members. Whether it's the abundance of Christmas quilts which still remain, or a favorite sweater which is still the most comfortable in the closet; there are years of memories left to enjoy which were all sewn, and stitched, with love straight from Rose's hands. One of the most precious gifts Rose possessed was the ability to make friends with anyone who crossed her path. Some would say it was her God given charisma, others would attribute it to her gentle heart; but all would have to admit that if Rose had decided she was going to welcome you into her world, then you were going to find yourself there, sooner or later, and you might as well kindly accept her invitation. Now, the last 7 weeks have been a difficult journey for Rose, and her adoring family, and we will surely miss her beautiful smile within our days ahead; but we accept that she is now free from her physical ailments and we will thankfully discover subtle moments of peace in knowing that we will all be reunited again one day in absolute perfection.

Those left to cherish Rose's memory include: her loving husband, Butch Valentine;

11 children: Roger (Katie) McIntyre, Dubuque, IA; Robert (Amy) McIntyre, Dubuque, IA; Renee Martin, Dubuque, IA; Robin McIntyre, Dubuque, IA; Rebecca McIntyre, Cedar Rapids, IA; Randall (Mindy) McIntyre, Dubuque, IA; Tracy (Jerry) Carew, West Branch, IA; Jeff S. (Angie) Valentine, Dubuque, IA; Randy "Skeeter" Valentine, Aurora, IL; Lynn Ann (Harold) Lane, Denison, TX and Sandi (Joel) Braxton, Denison, TX; 26 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and her siblings: Patrick (Karen) Vincent, Steurtevant, WI; Carol (Ron) Keller, Potosi, WI; Raymond Vincent, Dickeyville, WI
and Karen O'Rouke, Dubuque, IA.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her 1st husband, Roger McIntyre Sr.; and 2 sisters, Jean (Carl) Klaeska, and Marie Vincent in infancy.
