Gall bladder removal
Posted Wednesday, January 14, 2015 12:13 PM

As I have gall stones I will be having an operation to remove my gall bladder on Monday 19 January at 07h30. It's no longer a major operation with keyhole surgery, but I would appreciate your prayer that all goes well. Thank you.

11 March 2015: If only I'd known what I was in for when I added the above post! The operation went horribly wrong - and I had to spend 6 weeks in Hillcrest Hospital - 5 of which were in ICU. In that time I had 3 operations, suffered multi organ failure, and was put on a ventilator twice. The fact that I survived is a testimony to the power of prayer. Thank you to those who prayed for me and messaged or phoned me - and to those who visited me (Denzil Andrews, Mike Mungavin, Stan Coffey and Geoff Caruth).

Although the experience was a nightmare physically, it was profoundly enriching spiritually. I had been trying to bargain with God over a few character issues which He wanted me to deal with. I delayed taking decisive action until God made it clear to me that the trial I was going through was to get my attention. I am now committed to dealing positively with these character issues.

The moral of the story is that God is far more interested in your character than He is in your comfort.

Thanks for keeping us informed of what happened. Your friends in the 64 mob have worried about you since we heard that you were going back in to deal with what seemed like a minor complication.

So glad you have now come through the trial and have resumed life's journey.

It was great meeting you and Felicity in Sydney in December.

All the best to you and the Class of 1966 for your reunion. The 64s are available to help in any way they can.  An account of our reunion events and the gala dinner is posted on www.dhsclassof1964.com. The dinner was the highlight of the weekend, and for those who attended the lunch we arranged and those who went to Cathedral Peak for a few nights, the delight was even greater. The efforts of our organisers were rewarded by the thanks and joy everyone expressed and whenever we met our old friends of 50 years past.

All Class of 1966 members are welcome to come onto our site as guests. Just drop me a message (use Contact us on our 64 home page) and I'll add you to the Guest Members list...after which you just click on your name and follow the prompts. Sorry about the rigmarole but it helps keep the site secure.

Cedric, stay strong and congratulations on this wonderful website.

Graham.
