Comments:

Currently playing recorders in four consorts, primarily Medieval,Rennaissance and Baroque music. In my teaching career, I began with band and choir in Webberville, MI, and Kankakee, Illinois. After completing a Masters Deg. at U. of Illinois, I moved to Paw Paw, MI, directing HS choirs. In 1967 our family moved to Kalamazoo, MI where I taught 30 years in junior high choir/general music and elementary music. My hobbies over the years have included cross country ski racing (13 American Birkibeiners!) sailboat racing (Snipes) running, hiking and camping over most of our states. Currently I'm pretty heavily involved in recorder playing: My beloved wife Linda (ne Linda Sclocum) is enjoying quilting, when she can find time from co-chairing our guild's fall quilt show, and president of the guild.

School Story:

I mentioned recorders. I first bought a soprano recorder in 1956, to play a wind instrument that didn't seem to foul up my French Horn embouchure. I really enjoyed developing facility on it, and, for a while, played French Horn and recorder in a dance band, using Bill Street's arrangements. After I retired I thought "I've spent 38 years pulling music out of others; now it's my turn!" Since crooked front teeth have put me off of playng horn, recorder has occupied me since retiring: (I've got 6 sizes of them)

HBDTY Chuck.
Do you remember going to church with me and my parents? You tried to crack me up by singing slightly off key....
