Cathy Rossow VIEW PROFILE

Catherine (Cathy) M. Rossow, age 46, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, after a long but brave battle with Cancer.

She was born August 10, 1970, in Eau Claire to Gerald and Trudie (Hughes) Rossow. She was a 1988 graduate of Memorial High School in Eau Claire. As an adult Cathy’s love of children led her to starting a successful day care.

From an early age Cathy had a great love of animals. As a small child she often took on the role as “caretaker” to the many baby birds she would scoop from the birdhouses around the yard, re-nesting them in her little pockets, which made laundry an interesting task for her mother. As a teenager she spent many hours riding and caring for her horse Jake. Later her love of animals led her to her first job at a local veterinarian clinic. She had many pets through the years — her Dachshunds Louie and Butch and her newest addition Millie, aka crabby cat, that spent many hours by her side.

Cathy’s greatest joys were her children and spending time with them. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, summer bonfires and playing silly games with family and friends. One of her favorites was family movie night, also known as movie marathons! She will be remembered by many for her uncanny ability to bring laughter to those around her. Even through her illness she could most always be seen and heard with a smile and the sound of her infectious laughter.

She is survived by her children, Coty and Ashley Rossow; her parents, Gerald (Cheri) Rossow, and Trudie (Matthew) Brixen; sisters Lisa (Dave) Johnson and Michelle Rossow; aunts and uncles, Kenneth and Audrey Boigenzahn and John and Peggy Hughes; and her ‘Awesome’ cousin Simone (Boigenzahn) Vance. Cathy will also be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews: Alisha Casper, Brock Rossow, Rachael, Griffin and Dillon Johnson; and her dear friend, Mary McClure. Cathy always held a special place in her heart for Jason Coequyt, father of Ashley Rossow, who she once shared a better part of her life with.

Welcoming her into heaven are her beloved grandparents, Charles and Mildred Rossow and John and Janet Hughes; aunt, Judie (Hughes) Skifsted; and her uncle, Jeffery A. Hughes.

Cathy requested a private burial with her closest family and friends.

A special thank you to Catherine’s doctor, Dr. Bilal H Naqvi, and the caring staff at Sacred Heart Cancer Center.
