After the Blue Iguana on Friday night, it's off to Chicos!

Adriana Fernandez

Marty,

Someone had said that we may not have a life since there was a handful of us that jumped on the forum and so I thought better act cool and only post messages sparingly. Wouldn't want to be a weirdo for enjoying the site. What the heck....NR. Just busy with kids, school, work, etc. Maybe we can hitch hike our way to the reunion for old time sake.

Hi Everyone,

Becky-Hi how are you? I most definately do keep up with Irmina. We talk about every other day. She lives in the Bay Area. We are also very good friends with Esther, who is living in Denver. I don't keep in touch with anyone else from the Pius days.

Mike W.-A get together with classmates in the Central Tx. area would be awsome. Please count me in on any events. I am going to try and make the social this Saturday it sounds like fun.

The Chico's recipe is awsome! I took some friends home to El Paso with me in March and of course I had to introduce them to the El Paso staple. They are hooked! I think I will attempt to make some and host a Chico's dinner party at my house. What is a good wine to pair them with? Ha ha! A Merlot?

Melissa Mendez (Thompson)

Not sure how you got those out of towners to enjoy Chicos. 18 years later and my husband won't touch the stuff, neither will my children. They do however like the hamburger hotdog (yummmy nice red hotdogs) ha ha... no chemicals there hah?

Another place my husband cannot grasp is Whataburger... he always said compared to in and out... I just don't get it.

I miss El Paso, all its novelties too. It has changed so much though, we go back about once a year. I never EVER run into anyone. My family is there and that always makes it "My Home".

Gee, I heard its in a form of a pill like with the Jetsons and you just put it in the microwave and poof there you have it a double order with cheese and a side of the green chile. I need to invest.

Elizabeth Abilez (Abilez)

Hey Becky!!! Sounds like you just hit the spot with chicos!!
Mary--you go girl! I hope you and your hubby have a groovy time with those tacos;)
I just had to laugh cuz it sounds like the chicos is sublimely turning you all towards Becky's "part-time/couples biz" products-hahahaha
Becky-LMAO = laughing my ass off! c'mon! I am glad your trip was fabulous. Now what do you mean by helping with "which question should you ask?"
It is great to see everyone having a great time on the forum. I also hope it continues past the reunion.

Well you all know how I am a proud parent of my only son...yada yada yada...my son is leaving for college to NMSU and I was wondering if I could hear from the guys some advice on perhaps what to say, what to give,WHAT NOT TO DO -LIKE oh say label his underwear or buy granimals from wal-mart. He has already been given "the talk" and that was the first time my son and I had a beer together(reunion)!
Patrick-what the hell! didnt know you were in the military.
Rik-what is your website(myspace or other)? I was talking to my son about your music. He is also a musician. His 8th grade gift was a acoustic guitar. I told him(at the time) that was the closest thing to a real woman he could get to without being slapped, kicked, get pregnant, or ever be whipped(aka carrying a woman's purse)There is a difference as has been explained to me in detail by my son and nephews.
Becky-thanks for the compliment. I really needed that. YOU TOO CHRIS! I am planning to lose 15 more pounds and tone those flabby arms!!!RAY you have given me the push I needed to get off my tukas(butt);)
AND YES ALL YOU SINGLE GIRLS RAY IS A CATCH. And as we finally all have seen can get down with his bad self:)

Elizabeth Abilez (Abilez)

Melissa your hubby just doesnt have the "it" factor when it comes to chicos J/K LOL
For all of you who live in the bay area-I wish I could live there. I love San Francisco, Monterey, etc. The drive from El Paso to Sacramento was one hell of a family trip. I drove from about sun down to sun up cuz my mom and aunt couldnt drive at night. Talk about sqeezing a bunch of people in a dodge durango! There was no room!!! And my aunt-pues ni modo-she hogged up the middle. I drove on that highway just like you see on the commercials for "real california cheese" with the talking cows. It is beautiful up in the wine country.
I didnt realize how it looked up in San Francisco when all of us "mexicans" got out. I think we really scared some people! lol

Gloria-what was that play "electricidad" about? It looks very intense. You look great. And Shakespeare in the park-as in Central Park, NY?

Melissa-hell ya! I remember my first "big time" New York broadway play!!! Do you remember how incredibly stupid I was with those guys in your jersey neigborhood?!Remember I didnt even know it was a date and that guy was going to pay for my ticket and like an idiot I INSISTED on paying?!!! hahaha talk about LMAO!!! What can I say I had never been on a date! I am just an independent person. Had to be with being the youngest and the only girl with 5 brothers.
OK BECKY-I WOULD LIKE TO APOLOGIZE ABOUT MY PAST COMMENT ON THE STUDENTS FROM ROSS. :)It was not intended for anyone from our class.

07/09/08 05:15 PM #618

Elizabeth Abilez (Abilez)

Becky-here is your post that I thought you wanted me to answer a question:
Rebecca Zambrano Morales

Liz, What question should i answer

call me loca-but que????
Hey all should check out Chris'website;)
Lisa-What to put on a banner? I like the idea of "BURGES CLASS OF 88" in the center someone said. And of course purple and gold. Lets see...A good thing would be to have our motto from the yearbook and the MUSTANG.

I should put up some chico's tacos up on the silent auction....
couple of things,,,
1)chico's tacos and wine? IDK...pinky up or down?
2)What alcoholic beverage does anyone just look at and remember high school hangover? Mine is MD 20/20. Doesnt matter the flavor. I just look at the stuff and remember the tejas parties-oh there goes my stomach.

Melissa-do you remember the time you gave me a shoe box full of cigarettes and asked me to hide them for you at my house???? Yeah and do you remember when I told you my mom was cleaning my room and found them? I then proceded to tell her they were yours...figures when you are telling the truth...and she said there was no way that they could be yours because Melissa WOULD NEVER DO THAT!!! Yeah that is one of the favorite stories with my kids. She even called you (luckily your mom was not there and she asked you to tell the truth and you LIED!!!)Next thing I know my dad knows and the cigs are in the trash and I am grounded. So yeah thanks;)lol
speaking of alcohol--the other day I went to Big8 grocery store and saw that hangover look on my son!! talk about a wake up call---i dont know which bottle he was looking at

07/09/08 05:34 PM #620

Elizabeth Abilez (Abilez)

Ok Becky--were we at lunch when I asked you this? cuz I dont remember. Was it for a number, website, song?? By the way this morning it was raining here and Bon Jovi's 'dead or alive' came on. I remembered singing 'shot through the heart and your to blame, baby you give love a bad name'in your el camino one night on the way to pick up melissa to a-what else-a party. NO church functions for us gals...do you remember that?
Well now Herbie sings and plays guitar--so its all from my side of the family. You said I had a very good voice. Did you know I tried out for a band and got the lead singer gig but had to quit cuz I was 16 and my mom said no way?

07/09/08 06:59 PM #621

Melissa Mendez (Thompson)

WOW Liz, what a memory... I forgot all about that. I sware I think the 3rd child I gave birth to knocked the remaining portion of my brain cells out me. Well my dear friend who took the rap for me way back then, do you suppose I can make it up to you by means of martinis? Looks like I will be attending the reunion after all, so I would love to make it up to you.

That is right, remember New Jersey too... remember when we got back to my house after spending the 4th at south street seaport in NY he was singing to us outside the kitchen window??? That was so funny... wow can you believe how young we were (still are)~~

BTW, I remember that night when you sang shot through my heart in the back of Becky's El Camino... but why were you two not at the party with me is my question?????

I can't believe your son is all grown... Remember when I babysat for you when he was a newborn and I was scared to death that I would squish him because he slept with me in my bed while you went out overnight... OH WOW and now he is all grown up!

Love you lots Miss. Lizzy!!!!!

Elizabeth: The play Electricidad was adapted from the Greek tragedy, Electra. It was written by Luis Alfaro and it was set in a desolate notorious gangland barrio in L.A. It was an intense play, demanding both physically and emotionally and one of the most highlighted acting experiences I have had so far. The character I played was Electricidad, a fierce and unforgiving gangbanger out to avenge her fathers death brought on by her own mother. And she sets out to honor his death by detroying what's left of her own family. She is a cruel character with a fevered temper and lots of pain but what a ride it was every night trying to get to the end of the play.

As for the Shakespeare in the Park, it was not, unfortunately, in New York. It is an annual summer production at the Botanical Gardens here in San Antonio which I am proud to have been a part of that year. Thanks for the inquiries.

Elizabeth Abilez (Abilez)

Allright Melissa!!!! Great. The martinis you'll have to educate me cuz I havent a clue!!! I didnt watch sex and the city so havent a clue but I hear they are very good. You always were ahead of me;)
Becky-your little one is cute. Make sure that tooth fairy shows up
Melisssa-You know I dont remember where we went when I was singing my heart out. (Oh and I am pretty damn good on that xbox Rock Star and kareoke(?)) What party was that? I think you wanted to stay cuz you met up with someone or some of the gang and you had a different ride home. My god what were we thinking?!!! And I do remember that 4th! It was a blast. I am soooo glad you are coming to the reunion.

07/09/08 11:21 PM #625

Elizabeth Abilez (Abilez)

Rik-I passed on your site to my son. Thanks. He really appreciates. Just to give you the heads up--he is pretty damn witty like you. I do know that guitar center is like his church(not meaning to offend)
Gloria-WOW is all I can say. Electricidad sounds like you were truly happy in your work. I hope the best in your art:)Is it performed anywhere else?

Hey girls-becky and mel you remember this-what are you wearing to the friday party? lol

07/10/08 12:32 AM #626

Adriana Fernandez

Chris,

Finally, I was able to get a hold of Twana. It looks like she updated her profile. I will forward you her email. Unfortunately she can't make it for the reunion. Still nice to hear from her. She could have taken Imai and Loya up on a friendly game of b-ball and shown them how it's done. Ha-Ha :) All in good fun guys.
