Hey Ray...sorry I have not logged in for a couple of days. Sorry to hear that u are not going to make it to Crue Fest...I'll give u all the juicy details when I get back. I was going to go to Tucson for Metallica, but last minute, decided not to go after all. I did see Iron Maiden in Albuquerque, and then following day, in Phoenix, and I also saw them back in February, in Mexico City. I almost got to see them a fourth time, in London England. But did not manage to make that show. Hey are u going to STP? let me know, and maybe we can go to that together. I'm pretty psyched about JOE SATRIANI coming to El Paso in November. Let me know if u down for that show. Hey how come u have not posted the pictures from last weeks get together?

Photobucket Ross Rebels Basketball Champs. Coach Fields at the helm guiding us to three victorious championships our eight grade year. We brought home first place in Volleyball, Basketball and Track! Can you say "Triple Crown"? I like to say "Crown Royal, make it a triple."

Hello out there. Sorry I wanted to post yesterday about Kemp... but I took an unexpected trip to Seattle. I flew in to SEA and turned around and flew out 40 minutes later. My daughter is taking a cruise to Alaska and didn't have a notarized original letter that was needed to board cruise ship... UGH, what we wont do for our little ones hah?

Anyhow, Kemp was at Coldwell for a little while. For those of you who remember he even named his paddle "white lightning". I have a very clear memory of it being about 140 degrees in that classroom close to summer and he would purposely go get ICE WATER, a huge glass of ice water and drink it in front of us and say "oh that hits the spot" while we just sat there sweating... hee hee wow such great child building skills.

Gee, man that brings back memories. Check out the sneaks. I second the motion, crown royal and i'll take three. Man those were the days. Can't believe you still have that. Sorry MacArthur we did take 1st in all three sports because of Gloria!!! That is when her running skills emerged and they couldn't catch the fast breat in Bball and could never catch her on the track.

Found this, it is an actual group of Facebook..."you know you are from El Paso when"

You know that the only two seasons are summer and Christmas.

You know it's the first day of Spring because the wind gusts hit 50 mph.

You know that it only snows if it was at least 75 the day before.

You cringe whenever you see a CHIH MEX license plate.

You can get sunburned and wind burned in the same hour.

You can give a stranger exact directions to the Electric-Q disco in Juarez.

You don't go near the Rio Grande. Ever.

You think that anyone who lives on the West side drives a BMW and all the people on the East side are gangsters.

The only national monuments you have been to are White Sands and the Chamizal.

You have a least four T-shirts that have "In loving memory" on the back.

You know the difference between "ya'll" and "all ya'll".

You know where the "real" first Thanksgiving took place.

You thinkg Western Playland is the place to be in the summer.

You have tried to fry an egg on the sidewalk in July.

You invest a great deal of money in hair spray in the spring.

The only thing you stocked up on for Y2K were tortillas.

You know what all those letters on the mountain stand for.

You can see three different states and two countries from your backyard.

The first place you go when you come back in town is Chico's Tacos.

When you are lost in Juarez at night, you can always find your way back by looking for the star on the mountain.

Seeing the Asarco tower gives you that warm and fuzzy home feeling.

You have talked about leaving for about ten years, but you are still here.

If there is no sun for several days in a row you think that it is the sign of the apocalypse.

You are mesmerized by the arches that turn colors on Interstate 10.

You think that a Texan accent is a Spanish accent.

You no longer associate bridges with water.

You can say 110 degrees without fainting.

You learn that a seat belt makes a pretty good branding iron.

You discover that in July it takes only two fingers to drive your car.

You discover that you can get a sunburn through your car window.

You know the best parking place is determined by shade
instead of distance.

You actually burn your hand opening the car door.

You get claustrophobic from simply looking at more than four trees.

Your front lawn doesn't' have grass but rocks.

You drag all of your friends and family from out of town to go see Viva El Paso.

You understand and relate to George Lopez.

Instead of boiling Easter eggs, you drain the yoke out, paint them, stuff them with confetti and then crack them on people's heads.

Melissa, Kemp was a mean bastard at times but coaching wise, he was awesome. That guy was good at getting to your psych and making you give that much more. I heard his class was hell to go through. I never had him as a teacher.

That pic brings back a lot of good memories Gloria!! You all kicked ass!!

07/26/08 04:52 PM #761

Melissa Mendez (Thompson)

Hey Jose... well Im glad to hear that he had a good side and that he was an awesome coach. Unfotunately, as a teacher he was more than lacking. I can't remember ever disliking a teacher as much as I did Kemp.

07/27/08 01:11 PM #766

Jose Santos

Melissa, trust me, I saw a lot of what you are saying. I was just lucky I was not in his classes at all. Ok, how do you get a pic of the "golden loot" here in Cali??
LOL, their "winnie hamburgers" rule!!

07/27/08 02:15 PM #767

Christine Seelig

Hey Gee thanks for the props. Now my head is big, gotta let the air out. Hell that was back in the day. After, my knees starting giving, ankles weak and shoulder surgery I don't think I could hit a ball shoot a free throw or run the court.

Joe, where to get the RED weiners for the weenie hamburgers? Man the stew burritos are awesome as well.

How many of you used the fries for the excess juice and cheese left over? Man, Sunday is a good day for Chicos, hell any day is good for Chicos.

07/27/08 02:48 PM #768

Toni Montoya

Hey guys what's up? I hadn't had a chance to log in. Melissa the list is so funny, LOL! I can totally relate to alot of things on the list. Believe it or not I only crave Chicos about twice a year. I worked next to The Chicos on Mcrae for about five years and after a while the grease smell outside gets to you! Sorry, everyone! So Chris, when is our next pre-union get together? Just let me know.

Toni, Lorena and I have been talking and we realized that Angel had a great idea about the dinner or lunch. How does a weekend sound? Is that better for everyone? What type of food would everyone be wanting? Sorry Chicos won't reserve any tables for us. Well If we can get an idea and a location we need to get things rolling. Hell i'm all for Peter Pizza and Beer, the kids can come too. Anyhow, like to see what is on everyone's mind, just let either me or Lorena know.

Hey Guys...
So I went out to Albuquerque to go see Motley Crue...on their CRUE FEST!!
I was going to drive, but I figured, why spend on gas?! Right, so I opted to fly instead. I jumped on a direct flight on Southwest Airlines. Was there in less than 45 minutes! Anyway, you guys are not going believe this, but guess who I sat next to....
Good ol' Mr. Pfifle...remember him...most of us had him at Ross for Physical science.
I think he remembered me..so we started talking. He was asking me if I remembered Mr. Yoshida, I told him I did, but was never in any of his classes. Well, he told me that he was diagnosed with cancer, a few years back. He beat it and survived. Unfortunately, he wound up dying of a massive stroke/heart attack. I mentioned to him, that we were planning our 20 year reunion, and that this website existed. I also mentioned to him, that u guys were asking/discussing coach Kemp. Well, he told me that, Mr. Kemp got himself in some serious trouble with the law, and is now serving a very serious sentence in prison!!
He also asked me if I remembered Mrs. Bryson...who could forget her....those huge ass glasses of hers, and the fact that she was only what 4 feet tal!! Well, he told me that she had been assaulted, at her own home, mind you. and that afted that she was never the same, and eventually retired from teaching. I asked about good ol' Mr. Housen...I know u guys remember him. Tall, skinny as hell, and always smoking his pipe, anytime he set foot outside the classroom. Well, Mr. Pfifle said he was not too sure on what ever became of him.
I tell u what guys, it was a pretty cool sitting there remenacing about those people....that in one way or another affected our lives, at such an early age. By the way, if anyone happens to have any pictures of Mr. Housen, or Mrs. Bryson, please share them with me.

Angel, its a small world isn't?? So does Mr Pfeifl still smack his lips everytime he speaks?? It is sad to hear about Mr Yoshida, his math class was ridiculously hard.
That sucks about Kemp but it is not surprising in a way.
The man could go overboard a lot.

So how was the concert?? Hope you had fun and if you all get together at Lisa's, hope it is fun.
Lisa, remember you used to get some of us together at your parents back when we where at Ross?? GOOD TIMES!!
