I'm planning to bring one set of cornhole boards to the rendezvous in Ruidoso. Maybe we can organize a tournament, or just play for fun.

The Inn is a casino.  May we assume that betting will involved cheeky.

Is it gambling if you have the skills to win?

Hey, guys! Looks like some fun brewing (mixed with a little mischief). Have a blast!! Wishing we could be there.      Marston & Pam

I wish everyone traveling to the Ruidoso Rendezvous a comfortable and safe trip. Check the weather forecast for Ruidoso on the dates of the reunion. It looks like we might have cooler temps and more rain than usual. But I think it will still feel like the beginning of the holiday season. See you soon.

As for Klaus, if you have the skills to win - you must be cheating!!  As for Pam's note, folks will miss you guys.  Tomorrow I'm off to the Vietnam Memorial with my Thailand, Laos, Cambodia - Brotherhood (TLC-B) group.  We have about 70 in the group, many of which are starting to look "older" than I recall.  Had a "Nipa Hut" get-together this evening.  Perhaps some of our Irvin group spent time in Thailand, Laos or Cambodia.  If so, please get in touch with me.

I hope everyone has a safe trip to Ruidoso.  It was a wonderful summer there and we did have a lot of rain and cooletr tempertures than last year.  Wish I could come back for this but we just got home two weeks ago.  Post lots of pictures and maybe someday I will get to come to one of the reunions.

Jim D, I hope your TLS get-together is as special as all the participants must surely be.  I really, really admire our active service and vets of the various branches of military, for such honorable service!

Re: next week at Ruidoso, thanks for your comment, jim.  And Klaus, your comments are always so enjoyable & uplifting. I'll join you in wishing safe travel and lots of autumn mountain FUN for all attending!!

Visited the Vietnam Memorial wall today.  Spent time thinking about RussellW and BobbyB.  Did I miss any Irvinites?  Also visited the "new" Army museum on the Fort Belvoir property.  Wow, what a special place!!  I didn't even get to Vietnam in my 3 hours.  Started with pre-America, went thru the Wars of Independence, Indians and more.  Totally new tech compared to "older" museums.  Lots of screens, touch screen stuff, videos and such.  Very empty due to the time of year, which means - perfect time to visit!!  Will go back tomorrow.

Jim, sounds like you're making the most of your trip. Thanks for giving time and special mention to our classmates whose names are on "the wall."

The 2022 Rendezvous of Irvin High schoolmates at the Inn of the Mountain Gods in Ruidoso was another funfilled and memorable event, It was attended by graduates from classes '61 to '68. They came from California, Georgia, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, and, of course, Texas. (Hope i didn't leave out any states.)

One of the topics discussed was the mini-reunion in 2023. It will be the 60th anniversary of the graduation of the Class of  '63. It was suggested that next year's event should be held in El Paso or Las Cruces. Attendance should be open to graduates from all classes. Your suggestions for next year's gathering of Rockets will be welcome. We can discuss them in this forum, or, at least for now, address them to Bryson McCool, or to me.

Now this is important! We can be quite certain that Patty (Laugherty) Coberly will attend next year's event, and that she will bring the Trivia Pursuit Game. In order to be prepared for that group event/competion, go to:  How to Play Trivial Pursuit: 11 Steps (with Pictures) - wikiHow On the other hand, your original answers will add to the fun.

Stay healthy and safe ... we want to see you at the reunion next year ... or sooner.

Nice summation, Klaus.  Sorry to have missed seeing everyone.  As for the 60th, yikes.  Can it really be true??!!

Big thanks, Klaus,  for summarizing the 2022 Irvin Rendezvous (post #1705).  I'm so glad it remains an ongoing, evergrowing annual event, ever since our first multiple-grad class Ruidoso "mini-Reunion" in 2013. If memory serves me correctly, we've only had to skip one year (the year of COVID).  And it seems each Rocket Rendezvous is unique in itself, offering great variety of activities and group dynamics.

All grad classes from over the years should mark the 3rd week of October (Monday-Thursday) & make plans to attend this awesome Rocket tradition! Let's seeeee..... that would make October 16-19, 2023 the target date of  the next one!

I enlisted in the Navy and went through boot camp with Chuck Rutherford. If I recall, he went into the swift boat part of the Navy. After we went our separate ways I lost touch with him. Can anyone tell me what caused his premature death? He was a very special kind soul, and a good friend.

The history of barcodes. I found this to be pretty interesting. 12 1/2 minutes

I remember having to stand in a check out line with Mom at Safeway in El Paso (Hercules and Dyer I think) while Dale, the cashier, took each item out of the basket, then entered its price into her cash register. The bagger then put the item into a paper grocery sack.

Thank you both for your compliments. As I recall, we had quite a few talented, intelligent folks in our class. Do you remember the class "play" with Mr. Cohen? Now there was some real talent!

Right now, I'm about halfway done with creating the "Clark County Zoo" I've finished 26 drawings of various animals and I figure that I will stop with somewhere in the 50 drawing range. There is no zoo in Las Vegas, so I'm just creating one for whoever.

Boredom, Connie watches HGTV and medical shows on tv so I go hide and draw. I'm not watching "Dr. Pimple Popper" for her or anybody else!!!

God bless and be safe.
