Lou Ann arrived after the school year began during our freshman year.  I remember she was in my Biology class taught by Mr. Sikes.  She was a very beautiful girl, but unfortunately committed suicide within a month or two of arriving at Irvin.

Lou Ann was a very close friend of mine for our 7th and 8th school years at Bassett Junior High.  As was the norm for Army brats, she went to Irvin and I went to Burges for our freshman year. She was a beautiful and wonderful girl, both inside and out.

Lou Ann Minot was my friend. She was of our class of 1966, but she didn't live long enough to graduate. She lived on Tonto in Mountain Park. She was a wonderful twirler, she used to practice in the circle in front of her house. Betsy Cummings and I would watch her practice and she taught us a few elementary twirls. I loved seeing her toss 2 fire batons high up in the night sky overlooking the city below. The last time I saw her she was walking up the hill on Titanic from the bus stop below. My mother had a carload of us and stopped to add Lou Ann and give her a ride home. Looking sad and weary Lou Ann declined. The next day, at Irvin, she took her own life by swallowing a a bottle of her father's heart medication. She was much loved by her family who were devastated by her loss as were her many friends. I never knew why she thought she had to take her life. I have thought about her and missed her over 50 years now and pray that she found peach in our Lord She is buried in Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with her parents.

I did not know her but always thought she was so beautiful.   I remember being in class when someone interrupted and took her out of the class. I learned later that she had committed suicide.   I've thought about her many times since then with the feeling of deep regret  for a life unfinished.
