Arlene and I met in the second grade at Alden Terrace Elementary School.  We went through Alden Terrace and into Elmont and wound up on the Spartanettes...me in the middle section, she at the end. We went to Nassau Community College together. We shared very special times together and just had more laughs than I can ever imagine...she loved to go out and 'check out town' and we did it often. Her mother checked the mileage. So, we would go to Food Fair near me and drive a few miles backwards to get the odometer down...not an easy task...lol... She moved to California in the mid 60s and met her husband Richard there.  She was thrilled to have her daughters Wendy and Jill.  She was a wonderful, loving, attentive, fun Mom. Arlene, was the nicest, kindest, funniest woman I have ever known.  She was a good and true friend. Wonderful mother, wife, sister and daughter.  She and her mother Ann were killed by a drunk driver in July of 1983 during a camping trip with her daughters and her Mom.  Fortunately, Wendy and Jill survived.  But they missed out on having a very special mother for their entire lives....... Jill lives in Manhattan now and I am priviIedged to have her as a friend...

Arlene and I shared the 2 end spots on the long, green Spartanet line.   The last time I saw her was at the 25th reunion at Belmont Lake State Park and she hadn't changed a bit.  She had a great smile and a great spirit .......
