Donna Hughes Coleman

I worked with Dayton Public Schools for 35 years and retired in June, 2009. I taught elementary school and also was a reading specialist. I dabble in photography. I am trying to become more proficient in digital photography. I love theater and live performances of any kind. My husband, Ken, retired after 32 years on the Dayton Fire Dept.

I thoroughly enjoyed the last reunion, especially seeing two dear, dear friends, Deb Shera and Peg Gebhart. Excellent time.

One of my favorite memories is of what I can only call, the "pants-in". There was a big deal going on about our dress code in our last couple of years of high school. Girls wanted to be able to wear slacks. We took matters into our own hands by wearing pants to school one day. I felt like such a rebel! The dress code was changed, but I can not remember when. Read old copies of "The Flyer"---opinions on this hot topic are pretty entertaining to read about now.

We also had an alternative publication called "Abraxas". Those were very telling and indicative of what was going on in our world at the time. High school brought some real awareness of the world around me.
