Cindy....Tell Jerry Happy Birthday from the Judds!
The forecast....WOW!! I think you missed your calling! Great JOB from the Fairbury Morning Post!

We got up all the alfalfa that was mowed down...I think that makes a first for the year....all summer we fought rain, needing just hours to finish getting it up without it getting wet! They still have another 100 acres that needs mowed....but they are waiting until after the sale.

Jim....yes, the winds must be hitting us all! Today is cool and damp here....it says it is 68 degrees...but sure doesn't feel like it.

I'm headed to Sam's today to pick up food etc for the sale...it is approaching us fast!

I'm leaving you with 2 sayings today....One for my kids and one for Matt....

Your birthday is a special time to celebrate the gift of "YOU" to the world....

You can take a boy/girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy/girl....

You guys are WAY too funny! I love hoping on here and seeing what has been posted. I figure that beings I don't get on here much, maybe I should drop a short lil note!

John and I feel it's time for another "gathering". Nothing too special, just an evening of socializing. Whose game? I'd invite Cindy Grrr, but we all know she won't attend! ;) and neither will Michale for that matter! Man they're party poopers.

Anyway, I'm thinking an evening of dining and beverages? We could go to a local establishment or whatever. Any thoughts?

On another note... MATT! Hey my friend, I'm SO happy to see that you're another year older! It's about dog gone time. I'm just curious to know what the BETTER HALF have you for a present. BUT! beings this is a "G" rated site, you don't have to disclose it hear. I DO want to wish you have happy day and many, many more to come.

Once again, I want to thank Robin and Dave for hosting the tailgate party. WOW... did they ever put on the ritz. Words alone can't express my sincere gratitude for all that they did.

Oh and speaking of the tailgate party. A few of use were cleaning up and packing up the trailer when Jim K. noticed a dumbA$$ climbing a tower on top of a building in downtown Lincoln. We observed him climbing to the top, several hundred feet above the ground. Well the end result was this young intoxicated butthead getting to meet Lincoln's finest! Acording to the paper, he did it on a dare and had a lot of liquid courage.

Happy Birthday Matthew P. Gildersleeve!!! (My dad would want you to hear that!)

I hope you had a great Birthday, my long-time friend. Wow! It seems like "yesterday" that we found some life-long friends at a little country school called District #72. Do you remember a birthday Pinatta (sp?) we made for you? We beat that thing like a rented mule, and still couldn't break it open. I think we had to resort to "other means".

Well, my youngest wanted a Pinatta for her birthday on the 18th, so my In-Laws found one. I managed to get the thing up on the porch without the little B-day girl seeing it. Was she ever surprised! She did the blind-folded bat-thing five times, and only hit ME once (I was guarding the doors/windows in case of wild swings). The oldest took five blind-folded swings, too. They made some good contact, but nothing "damaging" enough. At that point, they told ME to take five swings, without the blind-fold (candy cravings?), so I nailed the thing. Busted it open on the fourth swing. Made me think of how we beat that thing so many years ago....

Cooper is in one of their 18-month refueling outages, so I'm working (more) ridiculous hours. I had Tuesday/Wednesday off, so I tried to get some harvesting started. Managed to get one field of beans done, which should let me sow wheat to "change" the ground. Don't know when the rains will let up, or if that will fit with my "days off", but I'm pretty certain this was going to be a long harvest season anyway.

I'm always glad to read the Reports from Fairbury, Cindy G/R, so keep up the great work!! I'm glad you guys made some good progress -- I know how much effort that takes!

I hope the next little gathering is something I can go to. I'd really like to see my friends again!!! Sarge & John (and anyone else) -- just let us know!

Take Care Classmates!!

PS: Sorry I didn't get a posting in to wish some other special birthdays, but I do think of my Classmates often!

Finally...we have ALL the fans from all directions turned off today! So nice to not have the wind blowing 50 MPH! But now I'm stuck in this dang house cleaning! If I would get off here and fb I would have it done in no time!

10/04/09 10:45 AM #5758

Michale Guilford (Junker)

Morning all. It's 32 degrees this morning. Think fall is here. The pool is closed. Shorts only on in the house.

Kenny is working all weekend all day. Kinda sucks cuz those are our days to spend together. I did some shopping yesterday and got out of the apartment. Nothing big bought a new rug and did some grocery shopping. Soup weather. Making potato soup today and Kenny is making chili tomorrow as he only works till noon.

Cindy P seems like just yesterday you had the big sale. Wow busy busy girl. Sorry I missed you and Dave and rest of the clan.

Cindy G great weather reports, I don't even watch the weather on TV in the mornings anymore, cuz I know you will have a report for me.

Ron nice to see you on here, been awhile too.

Jim (Alliance) better get your winter coat out. You know the snow blows there before here. HA

Well you all know I live a boring life, not much to talk about, although last weekend I did go visit my mom and helped her out a bit on Sat, took Kenny something to eat at work Sun and ended up working too. I washed the windows of the car. It was fun to get out on the weekend and do something.

Plans today, fun fun fun, laundry, mopping the floors by myself, HA and cooking.

Ya all have great day and I do think of everyone of you.

10/04/09 12:35 PM #5759

Matt Jarchow

Thank you to everyone on the birthday wishes...had a great day! Mom and I celebrate our birthdays on the same day. Talked to her for almost and hour and by the sound of her day she had a great one also!

Sarge...name the day and time and I'll try and make it. I see John only on special occasions and when the granddaughter plays hide and seek with small blue bottle that just happen to fit down the toliet....gotta love her....now you see it...now you don't! I think John owes me a drink or two???

Yes Ron I remember the event at Dist. 72....how could I forget!!! Thanks for reminding me....those where good times! How about the fort we built???

Sweetie we had frost last night......how bout you???

Shelly its good to see you on here....I get out your way often, both your home and your work...too many detours!!

Sweetie Pea....sounds like you have your hands full...hope you have great weather next weekend!

Terry my man we need to get together on here and chat even if Sweetie won't join us. Good to see the miracle ear is still working! Terry if you are free next weekend I'll bring the prod and you bring the batteries and we'll meet at Sweetie Pea's house. She could use our help don't you think??? LOL

Hope everyone on has a great rest of the weekend!!!

10/04/09 02:22 PM #5760

Cindy Pfingsten (Judd)

Matt and Terry, looks to me like you two have something up your sleeve? I'm not such why it has batteries in the mix? You will need to explain that one?

10/04/09 03:01 PM #5761

Ron Yantz

Cindy P/J, you just know those two will be up to NO GOOD! We have to warn Sweetie! We know what 'a prod' with 'batteries' is all about (and I refuse to ever use those things on my cows! The Vet always uses the darn things to 'move' the cows and calves into the chute, and it causes nothing but chaos.)

10/04/09 03:13 PM #5762

Ron Yantz

Yes Matt, I remember that "fort". What a memory! I can still see that stupid kid (who was it?) sitting on top of it. Those tumble weeds sure made a comfy fort in the winter, even if the "roof" was a little "leaky" when it thawed. We'd made it so stout, they had to burn it out of that fence corner! Fun times, indeed!!

Outage Crisis: The RUBES were moving a new Feed Water Heater (a huge heat exchanger) into the compartment, when the hydraulic cylinder arm on the lifting device broke right off. They have to tilt the big thing nearly vertical to fit through the hatchway, and then level it out before it reaches the floor. Well, any fool could see that the weld joints were way too feeble, so the arm broke free on one side, which then put all the tilt-load on the second one, which promply bent all to _____ before it broke off, too. The heater end dropped about 6' and bent up the mounting plates, causing untold panic and chaos (I like that word today). How much damage? $,$$$,$$$??? Who knows!! So now the Management Team is asking how I would begin Designing the freaking welds. For one thing, I'd know better than to join 3/4" plate using only 1/8" of weld, even if I didn't know ____ about how to actually calculate the weld stresses. Why this is such a mystery to these "highly educated" people is beyond me. They've brought in many "experts" to determine "why" this thing failed. SIGH....

10/04/09 05:03 PM #5763

Cindy Pfingsten (Judd)

Matt and Terry... I was worried that was what you were up to! Ron is right.....we don't have a prod with batteries on the place...I have to live with these cows...remember winter calving?? I like it when they are nice to me...so I try to be nice to them!! Trust me "THEY" remember these things!! Now on the other hand, the higher ups(Dave)uses a sorting stick....but no batteries are included!

Ron....good luck with all the calulations on those welds! Have I ever told you, my Dad was one of the iron workers that helped construct Cooper. When I was about 5th grade....we almost moved to Auburn...I know what you are all saying...wow...we nearly escaped having to put up her...DANG!!

10/04/09 08:00 PM #5764

Matt Jarchow

Ron my response to them would have went something like this:........why's the sky blue??? why's grass green??? You know something that a 3 year old would come up with??? Do these guys swat flies with a sledge hammer???

10/05/09 10:34 AM #5765

Michale Guilford (Junker)

Good morning all. Cloudy and chilly this morning> I am not ready for fall yet or winter which I think will here before we know it.

Cindy G. where is the morning forecast??

Cindy P. I agree, those prods are nasty and just make cows more pissy. I am sure they are in a routine they know what to do.

I no nothing about welding. Can't help ya out.

Matt, I sure hope this construction winds up before bad weather. I am so tired of making a round trip.

10/05/09 02:20 PM #5766

Doug "Sarge" Klaumann

Okay! I'm a very patriotic person so I thought I'd post this video. Watch the ship very closely and don't forget to have your volume up. This is simply AMAZING!

10/06/09 09:01 AM #5767

Cindy Georgi (Rosener)

Good Morning classmates....

Sorry I haven't been on lately....My uncle died of a massive heart attack last weekend....I have been spending a lot of time with my family, so haven't had time to be on here...I will try to get back on towards the end of the week....
