Morning!

Just a lite shower here....so I just got word to get my silage truck ready to roll, we will be chopping this afternoon...and probably the rest of the week/weekend!  Since we live less than 5 miles from a major lake, I will be fighting traffic all weekend......boats, big campers, small campers, jetskis.    At least I have a loud horn if someone crosses my path and should not of!

Hey all.....

Sorry I haven't been on lately. Dealing with what life throws at a person.

May 13, after a three year battle with cancer my sis lost her son. As much as one can prepare themself for what the out come is going to be....it never makes it any easier.

Travis at 31 was a kid that didn't ask much out of life or of anyone. His one great passion in life was cooking. He graduated from Hasting college with a degree in resturant management and culinary arts. While some of his friends where out partying after H.S. graduation, Travis was at home planning the three course meal that he was going to serve at his own party. After college he move here to Lincoln and was hired buy Applebee's resturant...first as a cook and then as a corporate trainer, which took him all over the midwest for training. Travis enjoy passing on to other what he had learned about cooking. He loved the Food Network!!! Besides cooking Trav was a huge Husker football fan and even greater Nascar fan. Jeff gordon according to him could walk on water!! After Trav's diagnosis Applebee's granted him a make-a-wish at Kansas speedway to meet Jeff Gordon, so for 45 minutes Jeff Gordon took Travis away from what he had been dealt with. Even after radiation, 5 brain surgeries and countless chemo sessions the kid never complained about aches, pains and what he had been dealt. About a month ago when options where running out for Travis he was asked by his doctor if he was willing to do a clinic trial...something that had never been tryed before. Travis's response was that "If it will help someone else in the future that has the same thing as I do then its was worth a try." Not thinking about himself..just about someone else's future.

Over 200 people came to say there finally goodbyes to him at his funeral...a testimony to the lives that he had touch on his short stay here on earth.

I don't bring this up for sympathy or for pity......I just write about it because I'm so proud of the way he met things headon in life and the way he live his life..........I can learn alot from his example.

Hug and tell the people that mean the most to you in your life that you love them...........

Thank you for lend me you ear..........

I'll be back.............just taken sometime

Matt

Hey Matt, I'm so sorry to hear about Travis, Sounds like a kid anybody would love to have or be around... It's really hard on me when young people have their lives cut short, we lost our neighbor kid 4 years ago, he was just 15... It still gets to me, our kids grew up and hung out together... Well, I'll be thinking of you guys...

Matt,

Barb and I send our Condolences to you and your Family. We have been through the same type of situation in the last few Months. It has crossed my mind several times to be pissed at our Maker for taking a life so young.I guess we are not to Question Him, but to wait for the reason that He took our Loved Ones. There is a Reason. The wait is painful. You are in our Prayers.

Sounds Like Travis was a Helluva Cook, and a Helluva Kid. Saying that, then I know you have a Helluva alot of Memories.....Hold on to them, they will get you through this.

Do not ever Hesitate to call me 702.755.5298, or any other mate for that matter, if you need to vent or talk. We are all Family.

                       Take Care my Friend, Bill

Matt,

I'm so very sorry to hear about Travis.  He sounds like he had so much to live for, seems God has a bigger plan for him.  As Bill says, we don't know the reasons now, but some day it will all make sense.....We need to just trust in Him.  My heart goes out to you and your family.  Hugs.....

Happy Memorial Day to you all....First of all I would like to thank all the men and women who have served our country or are serving it at this time....You are  heroes in the minds of many people....Thank you for all of the wondrful things you do for all of us and our country....

Sorry that I have not been on here lately...I didn't give up on the website that is for sure....We have been extremely busy trying to get the beans in the fields....The weather has not been cooperating at times quite like we would like it....(I guess we wouldn't have anything to complain about if it did)...We have been doing a lot of working in the field a couple days and then 2 days off with rain....Yesterday, there was a chance of rain, but for some odd reason we got sprinkles a couple times and that was it...WHEW...Today the skies are a beautiful blue, I think it is going to be a wonderful day....

Lisa came home this weekend to help out along with Tyler and Big Jer....It really does help out on the farm when we have an extra person....We love have having her come home to help us out....The only thing that none of them stop and think about is the run around lady...That is ME!!!  Having her home produces working shifts....YIKES....I have people coming in and out wanting lunches at different times, eating meals at different times, and going to bed at different times....Needless to say, I am the one who is the last one in bed....And the second one up, right after Big Jer....This can also produce sleepless nights, as everyone else is sound asleep...Oh and the laundry is never ending....My laundry room is always full...I did 5 loads yesterday and will probably do 5 more today...I never know when anybody will show up, but have to be on my toes and things ready to go at any given time....Throw in running errands, being on call, and helping them if needed to move to different fields....It is all in a days work....I think I'm starting to wear down, but I get up each and every morning and put my best foot forward....:0)  Because for one, I love my family and will do anything I can for them all....They mean the world to me and they are my life....

Little Buddy....My deepest sympathies go out to you and your family....Our family has been keeping up on all of Travis's ventures he went through....He was an amazing man....I have heard so many wonderful things about him....Cherish the memories you have of him....Hugs to you....

Bill....It is great to see you on here again....Thank you so much for raising your voice and telling these classmates to get on here and use this website....I think we do need to have a P.J. party...You line it up big guy and I will be there....How is Barb doing??  Give her a hug....When are you coming to F-Town????

Keilwitz...Would you please just relax a bit now....Man you are a busy man....I guess we are all busy all the time, just in different ways....Hope all is well with you and your family...

Sweet Pea....Hope things are doing better for all of you guys soon....Won't it be nice to get all these seeds in the ground....I hope it happens....It is very stressful time and this year has just been even worse....Love you girl!!!!  Hugs....

I hope each and everyone of you have enjoyed your Memorial Day weekend....Tell us what you did to have fun...If there is anybody that is going to be in the Fairbury area this summer let me know....I won't be at the Total Sound reunion as we will be on vacation...:0(

Have a great day!!!!

You can be a happy person and not have a "perfect life."

Hello classmates!

It's been a LONG time since I've posted anything worth reading on here, so I figure I better get with the program.  As I'm typing this message I first want to share some bad news and will finish with some "happy" thoughts.

A good friend of many Class of 78 classmates, Kenny Duensing Jr.  aka DOC, passed away today.  Many of us will remember Doc for his shining smile and kind words.  He played an integral role on our State Championship basketball team and his talent will never be forgotten.  Others will remember Doc for being the kind-hearted person that we all called a FRIEND.

As of this message, I don't have any funeral details, but please keep Doc and the Duensing family in your thoughts and prayers.

Now that this message has placed you in a somber mood, I would like to brighten your day with some happy thoughts.  You see, it has come to my attention that YOU old farts have been receiving correspondence from AARP.  I would like to congratulate you on accomplishing this milestone.  Make sure you join AARP so you can reap the benefits they have to offer.

I would also like to take a moment and apologize for not wishing you all happy birthdays in a timely manor.  So with that being said, I would like to wish EVERYONE in our class a happy birthday.  Whew, now I'm caught up for the rest of the year and won't have to post anything else on this forum.

Good morning all....It is a bright and beautiful looking day out today....We received .65 of rain the night before last...Some hail too...The days have been very nice out, so try to enjoy a bit of it each day....

We have one more field to be planted yet....Waiting for perfect field conditions...LOL Is there such a thing....It is a field that got hailed out, so had to spray some chemical on it...Waiting for it to take effect....Hopefully we can get it done soon....

I would like to thank you all for the birthday wishes....It meant the world to me....I didn't really do anything special, as we were still in the field....I still had a great birthday though....I am so blessed with so many things over the 50 years....My family, farming operation, my home, and my dear friends....This website has been a blessing as well....I would have never reconnected with any of my classmates if it wasn't for this sight....Many classmates are losing out on the opportunity to do so and it saddens me to think they are not taking the time to catch up with the people they spent a lot of time with through the years....Even if you just take a few minutes once in awhile to let people know what is going on in your lives...I know there are some of you that are on facebook, but this is our own personal sight.....I hope to see more of you on here as we journey through life....

I send my deepest sympathies to the Duensing family...I have fond memories with Kenny and his family...Our families plus other Fairbury people camped almost every weekend together, until our kids grew up and got involved in things...We always had a great time....We will miss him terribly, but I know he is in a better place....Rest in Peace Kenny...

As we all know that life can be cut short and with this being said, I would like to thank you all for your friendship, it means the world to me....Thank you to those who still connect on this website with me...I love hearing all about what is going on in your lives....

Take Care my friends...Have a wonderful day....

Bill, I was able to visit with Tanner at Megan's wedding.  He seems to be doing fine.  Quite the chef he has become.  I would open a restaurnant for him but I would hate the hours.  9-3 is full time enough for me.

It is very sad to hear about Kenny Duensing Jr.  What an inspiration he has given to so many people.  He was a great guy.  God bless his family at this time.

It's crazy how when we were in hs we had a land line and a cb radio.  We all new what each other was doing and when and where the party was at.  We actually talked to each other on a daily basis.  Now we have email, facebook, class websites, cell phones, fax machines, and text messaging.  How we have actually lost the importance of communicating with each other.  When was the last time you texted your family and told them to pick up something from the store or told them to get McDonalds on the way home?  Remember when we were kids we had to be home for breakfast lunch and dinner.  We had to sit down with our parents and communicate.  I think back and miss that. I guess we didnt have Sonic till we were in high school.  Sorry I haven't chatted much on the website but I guess when you lose someone like Kenny you realize you should take the time to say hi to everyone and know that in one way or another we have made an impact on each others lives in one way or another, good or bad.

Good luck to all of you and if you haven't been AARP'd yet you will soon.  Maybe we could all get our AARP cards and get a cheap motel for the weekend and get our meals discounted also. LOL

Hello Mates,

Sarge pretty much told you about Kenny.......

This guy was the best.. I hunted, fished, played Baseball, softball,Basketball,Football with this Man. Never  did he ever Question me or my Lifestyle, which he could of. We had relationship that most people would Kill for.

For 45 yrs. I knew Kenny. Those are going to be the best 45 years of my Life...The first 5 years I was trying to figure out which tit to suck..

Iam going to ramble on about Kenny because most of you didn't know Him. Had you known Kenny, he was the 1st one to come to your assistance, he would be the one to stand up for you in time of trouble, he would never talk shit about you, and if he heard someone doing it about you, he would be the first to ask Questions.

I guess Guy's, Maybe I'am feeling sorry for myself. That should not be put on you. Kenny was a dear friend.    Hope you can except my Rant,

                                                                     Bill

Good Morning all...

It is partly cloudy here this morning....We had a light shower showing about .10 of rain....I guess we won't be in the field till the first of the week it sounds...One field to go, I'm ready to be done with it....:0)

Scott...Nice seeing you on here...It has been awhile since you have been on, but boy I sure enjoyed your posting...You really hit some fine points in our lives....Glad you took the time to share this with your classmates....Take Care

Bill...My heart goes out to you...I know that you and Kenny were very good friends...It is always so hard to lose our loved ones...Especially when there life was so short on this earth...May you find comfort in all the great memories you have and cherish them forever....Kenny was a great man and would do anything for anybody....The world would be a better place if we had more Kenny's on this earth....Take care my dear friend....hugs...

With reading the latest posts I guess what we all need to remember that life is short and sometimes shorter than we expect or plan on it being....With this being said we need to enjoy each and everyday of our lives...Always tell the special people in your lives that you love them,  stay connected with your dearest friends, and live life to the fullest....Be the person that is always there for people, to help them, lend them an ear, or just to enjoy there presence....Classmates I consider you all my friends and I am here for each and everyone of you if you need me...

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend....Enjoy!!!

Guys, Sorry to hear about Kenny, I'll be thinking of his family and you guys... Was he still living and working in Fairbury?

Not much to report today, got home around 5am and helped Morgan mow a few yards... Well catch you another time...

Today I'm heading to Kearney for the Cattleman's Ball.  All proceeds are donated to The Nebraska Medical Center for cancer research.  Since I've attended the Ball has raised over $500,000.00 each year.  This is one hell of an accomplishment.  I've lost a lot of close friends and relatives to cancer and try and do my part each year to their benefit.  Next year the Ball will be in West Point NE.  It falls on the first weekend in June each year.  If any of the mates could attend it would be great.  This year Randy Travis is the guest performer.  For Randy Travis and a prime rib dinner your cost is only $65.00.  Sorry but our AARP cards aren't accepted.  In addition to our tailgate party we could camp out next summer for a get together as a tribute to our fallen mates (as Bill would put it).

My sympathy is extended to Kenny's family and Matt's family.

So how is the Monday morning starting out?   Just got home from work, pretty quiet aroung the house, Morgan and Ty went to Omaha... She had to get some classes lined up and neither Lauire or I could go, so Ty went with her... I guess sometimes you have to let them grow up and take care of themselves... Weather report, it's 54 and cloudy, I think it's only suppose to get to 78 today....

The bicycle riders were in town last nite, BRAN, bike ride across Nebraska, started at Harrison (30 miles west of Crawford) yesterday and they rode to Alliance... So they were all heading out of town when I came home this morning....

Well guys gotta go, it's nap time for this old man!!!
