Jeff Fleming emailed me to let me know that he still has DJ equipment that he would gladly bring down for us to use. The only thing is..he would rather have someone else to run it so that he would be able to talk with the rest of us! If anyone has any ideas of someone that would have the know-how to run that kind of equipment and wouldn't mind doing it for an evening, we could have a dance for one of the nights. Just an FYI....any other ideas....keep them coming.

How about the third weekend in July?

Sounds good.

Sorry so late joining in. July sounds great for me and I like some of Carrie's ideas as well for entertainment. I am not much help with the pics, however, I wouldn't mind if my senior pic was on here. What have others been saying about that?

third week of july is fine with me as well

Up By 1 isn't really big enough for any kind of sit down meal. We can reserve the back room free, as of now, could change by then. People could just meet there to have drinks, order off the menu, whatever. It would be good to set it up for Friday night so people have an informal place to gather for those getting into town that night.

I like the idea of doing some kind of picnic thing so we can see eachother's kids. Potluck is tough for out of towners, so maybe we could chip in a little and have a brunch. We could get some stuff from Hy-Vee (donuts/fruit). We could reserve a shelter house at Chatauqua or Jefferson County Park. I don't think that costs much. If we had it earlier in the day on Saturday it wouldn't be too hot since we're thinking about the third weekend in July. Then people would have time to rest up for Saturday night.

Any opinions on those ideas?

Are we looking at the 18th or the 25th for the Saturday night thing?

As Donna knows I have a strong objection to the third weekend of July as my reunion for my class in Nebraska is that weekend and as I've not seen ANY of them in 20 years I have already planned to go. I want the Fairfield reunion to be either the second or fourth weekend so I can see all of YOU!!

Hey everyone...Curtis brought up a good point. Maybe for the picnic or family event we do, we could rent the shelter at Jefferson County Park that is by the trail that is in memory of Bryce Stever. We could do the castle park ( as my kids call it ) as it is in memory of Matt Gaumer. The only problem with that is the shelter isn't very big and if it's hot..there isn't much of any shade on the play area itself. The kids will get really hot playing in the direct sun. Anyway, just a couple of ideas. I think we should decide pretty quickly about the date so we can be certain of getting a place reservec.

has anybody mentioned doing anything at the country club?

01/28/09 01:43 AM #38

Donna Fitzgerald (Smith)

We haven't ruled anything out as of yet and welcome any suggestions! If you have a contact person at the Country Club and would like to find out some info regarding cost and what is available...please do. That would be very helpful!

Thank you Donna for getting this up and going! Becky Maynard let me know about the site when she came to HI for a visit. Is it set for July? I don't know when school gets out in IA but is there any possibility for the last weekend in June??? It would be too good to be true- but I'm coming to my sister Vanessa's wedding June 20~ so close but I'll miss you all!

I keep seeing this quiz on Facebook called Senior Year. One of the questions is, "Can you sing the fight song?" Everyone's answer is no. This probably qualifies me as a nerd but here ya go people....

Fairfield Trojans hats off to thee. Loyal and true to you we will always be. We will fight for honor and might. We're behind you all the way. Fairfield Trojans. Onward to victory. Fight!

And to take it one step further...here's the school song!

To Fairfield High the school we love, we sing a song of praise. Sing of her many victories won, and high her banner raise. We glorify our Fairfield High, and work for her with zest. And show to all the world around, that dear old Fairfield High is best. So let's join in and cheer. For we are gathered here. Cheer for Fairfield High. Laud her to the sky. For we are ready to fight with all our might, for her honor and fame and her glorious name. So let's cheer, cheer, cheer, for dear old Fairfield High! Fight Trojans Fight! Fight Trojans Fight! Fight Trojans, fight Trojans, fight, fight, fight!

Do I win the prize for most school spirit????

What the heck are you kidding me I didn't even know we had a song. I know the fight song but not the other one. When did we sing that?

Maybe you can sing it for us and youtube it.....LOL

Massive esprit de corp points to Mindy! Tell me you actually looked up the words and did not dredge them out of your memory.

Mindy Teeter (Hoskins)

Kim - there will be no YouTube video, sorry. Buy me a drink and I'll sing it for you at the reunion. Maybe we could get some of the cheerleaders and pom pom girls to dance!

And Kale - that came straight from memory. I still sing the school song and fight song when I'm watching the Trojans lose a Friday night football game!

My wife just pointed out at when you click on 20 year reunion - it says.....

The reunion weekend is going to be Fri. July 17th through Sun. July 19th, 2009.

But the lady bug post it says REUNION DATE - Reunion date has been sent for JUNE 17-19. Can't wait to see everyone.

I assume it is JULY - but just wanted to check.

Thanks Donna for keeping the ball rolling. Here's my two cents worth...

Friday night - Up By 1 - if you're in town and want a place to hang out - it's a bar/grill - it's free

Saturday around 10 AM - Jefferson County Park - brunch - if people chip in a couple bucks we could get some donuts and fruit from HyVee

Saturday night - which ever place is cheapest! I don't care where we go, we'll have fun where ever we are, so cheapest is best.

Entertainment - if we could get by with a no cost DJ (I see a couple people have volunteered or know someone) then it would be fun to hire a hypnotist. I have no idea how to do that. Anyone have any contacts?

What do other people think????

If you would like to hire someone that could do magic and animal show as well as maybe hypnotism, contact Brian Staples and mention my name.

http://www.brianstaples.us/contact_us.htm

He was just in Washington, IA for a youth conference the church put on for over 500 teenagers from 11 states. Brian did a magic show with his animals and people from the audience.

Just an idea if you want to try to find out his rates and schedule. He drives all over the country. One of his monkeys played in Dr. Do Little with Eddie Murphy and Kyla Pratt. He has monkeys, camels, racoon, kangaroos, snake, tarantula, ponies, parrots... can't name everything he has.

If you want to see Brian Staples in action, go to his home page:

http://www.brianstaples.us/index.htm

There should be a video of him at the bottom doing a show for kids. The kinkachoo is in this video as well as Wilson, a monkey that was used in the Christmas Play Dec 08 in Washington, IA.

Donna - thanks for doing this! It is a huge job that most the time doesn't get the apreciation it deserves! it is hard to do anything with no money and I think you've done a wonderful job of keeping the cost down! most reunions are much more expensive! I know that when Todd and I go out for dinner we're lucky to get out for $40 - $50! So it is very reasonable!

I however - refuse to let you foot the bill for the for the shelter for Saturday's Brunch - Todd and I will pitch in and I hope more people will offer/do the same! Thanks soo much and see you next week!

Hey Donna, great job getting things organized. I am excited to get back home and see everyone. Also, if there is anyone who would like to play golf, I am planning on bringing my clubs. Let me know if you are interested.
