I remember Mike as a smart ass, wise cracking kinda guy. Always a smile...like Alfred E. Neuman, of Mad Magazine fame. He also worked at FPL for many years as a service planner. I was a lineman there, and we'd see each other on jobs, etc. Sad to see you go, Mikey.../steve
Mike and I were buds in school. We were in the Sea Scouts together. What a riot!! I remember his mom had a house on the Lauderdale Isles, not too far from my folks house, where we spent much time.
Mike was basically nuts, which was a good influence on me, since I was pretty much a straight-shooter. I don't remember how we became friends- I don't think we shared a single class (maybe English). I remember to this day a silly phrase he used to say a lot: “It’s crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide.” When asked what it meant, he'd answer "That's good advise". I looked it up decades later to find the origin. (Mad Magazine)-Google it-it's amusing.
I left Ft.Lauderdale in '64 and didn't return to live again until 1997. I never saw him again, but thought of him at times. I regret I didn't try harder to find him.RIP. Mike...
You know, we're not THAT old, but I'm dismayed that so many of us have left. So my advise is: try to re-connect with a classmate/friend you haven't seen for awhile before it's too late. (sorry for the maudlin turn)
I, too, remember Mike from Sea Scouts, as well as Vernon. Those were great times and we had a lot of fun on our boat trips. We had a super bunch of Scouts in the group.
