Bill and I were close friends. We used to cruise the streets in his baby blue 49(?) Chevy.  We nick-named it 'The Blue Egg ' because of its rounded back. Bill conserved every drop of gas from its sweet (but supted-up) 6 cyclinder engine just in case we came across a street drag race challenge.

Drive-Ins were high on our list to slowly cruised through with arms dangling from open windows.  We were sure that there was bound to be some 'chicks' around wanting to join us in a cruise. Sadly, there never was!

Bill was a self-taught mechanic and could strip a carb in a flash, which came in handy as The Blue Egg always needed adjusting at Sunday drag races.

He was a pretty fair trombone player and cut a dashing figure in his SHS band uniform.

Most of all, I remember his Super Man jet black hair, his quiet manner, hawk-like stare and friendly, wide smile.  Bill was a true friend. I was greatly sadden to hear of his demise at the reunion last June. Fear not my old friend, we shall, once again, one day, cruise together with arms dangling from windows.
